David Cervini Our car was damaged while driving along the lake on vacation. We had to get an Uber. We asked the driver if he knew a good place in town; he recommended Eloise. It was a stressful time since we live 500 miles away in San Diego. Kat was amazing! Professional, compassionate and communicative. She was also able to find alternatives that saved our car from being totaled by the insurance company. We have our car back and have them to thank for it! I highly recommend them. (I only wish we could find similar in San Diego!)

I had to drop my car off after hours and that process was super easy too. They got my car in and out pretty quickly and for a very reasonable price. Colleen Golden On our drive up to Lake Tahoe from San Diego, our car’s “check engine” light appeared. It was the 4th of July weekend & we were coming up for our daughter’s wedding. Struve automotive was recommended by a local & we brought the car in on Monday morning. Charlie had a counter full of keys for cars awaiting work, but he was very nice & said he would look at our car even though he was very busy. We received a call from him several hours later & they were able to identify the error and let us know the car would be safe to drive! Liana Young I had the best experience here. I had the low tire pressure light come on while driving on Highway 89 toward South Lake. Because my tire had recently been patched for a nail, I wanted to get it checked by professionals before continuing my road trip. I looked online and saw a good review for Five Star. When I arrived, the kind couple immediately said one of their mechanics could take a look. Bob, one of the most helpful people I have run into in awhile, checked all of my tires. Not only did he remedy the problem, but he shared valuable knowledge on how to deal with tires in general! I left with such gratitude to him and the whole staff for helping me feel safe to get back on my journey. They all felt like angels to me. I would recommend Five Star Automotive next time you’re in South Lake.

Katherine Mckay We were in town on vacation from San Antonio and had some car issues on our last day. Steve was able to diagnose and fix our suv within a few hours. Bob was quick, clear, and helped with multiple copies of docs as the car was purchased out of state. Also got to hang out with this beautiful blondie named Carmen while I waited.

SIERRA SOLETA I needed a smog test, same day, and was about 45 minutes away, no appointment and he got me in! The appointment before me was a no show, so I was in early and done in a flash! Passed the test, paid 75 bucks and that was that! It sends it to DMV electronically, so since it was already 430pm, I just made an appointment for the next day. Love these guys!!

felita Vizcarra My vans battery icon lit up when we arrived here in Lake Tahoe last Saturday..... it disappeared after awhile, but the next day it lit up again. Since we were driving back to Los Angeles today (Monday), I called AAA to check the battery.... and it was diagnosed as problem with the alternator. I called Lake Tahoe Automotive, and they told me to bring the van in. They even ordered the alternator right away prior to my arrival to facilitate the repair. When I got to the shop, they finished the repair in less than an hour. They were so efficient and nice, very good customer service! And the price is paid for the repair was fair enough. Highly recommended!

James Ross Guy “fixed my car” for 2 weeks by gluing the wire for my ignition coil, while doing so he void my warranty. Spark plug was loose and basically not even installed, my car kept misfiring due to his negligence. Never once mentioned it until I tried getting the same ignition coil fixed and the warranty company told me.

Alek Hurst These guys are COMPLETE scammers. They took my van for a simple job: replacing dipstick tube. They WRECKED everything they touched (cross threaded exhaust manifold bolts, cross threaded dipstick tube bolts). Cost me almost $1000 to take it to a different mechanic and fix the things they broke. DO NOT take your vehicle here under any circumstances.

Don Larson I had a problem with my 2018 Subaru Outback. It suddenly would not move forward without a “stuttering” action. Got towed to Todd’s shop on a Friday afternoon. He was busy with other cars. We left it with him and by 5:00 PM he had determined that everything seemed fine. He hooked it up to his diagnostic computer and reset the system. Drove it all over with no issues. When I picked up the car before he closed on Friday he would not take any payment…saying “I didn’t do anything”. Oh but he did…He affirmed my faith that there are still people of GREAT CHARACTER. I concur with the other reviewers in their compliments to this man. Great to have a mechanic I can go to when I’m at my Tahoe home.

Joe Huerta While out in South Lake Tahoe for a wedding, well our alternator had different ideas as died out on us. He was able to squeeze us in Friday and got is taken care of. There is no amount of praise and gratitude we can give! Thanks to this amazing man we were able to leave on time and our vehicle is running amazing!

Jenn Undefined They represented on the phone to my husband that they understood the engine issue (turbo not giving boost) and that it was within their expertise. They came, fiddled around for hours, couldnt identify the issue, and at one point exacerbated or broke something which then took more time to get back to square one. They never diagnosed the problem, didnt fix it, and sent us to someone else. After a small discount we ended up paying $550 to be in the same position we started with. When we took it to the next mechanic, they saw a broken piece of plumbing leading into the turbo system in 30 seconds. I get that people make mistakes, but this didnt seem like a reasonable one, and I cant imagine charging someone $500 for work that resulted in no benefit when another mechanic found the problem in under a minute.

Kai He I had 2 blown tires on Memorial day and this is the only shop that is able to take me in. I had to have the car towed in and communicate with the owner via text/phone. He took care of everything all I have to do is to show up a few days later to pick up the car. Very honest and dependable guy, highly recommended!

Julio Lombera I went to Lake tahoe on business stayed 3 nights on our last day there. my check engine light came on.we went to OReilly to get a diagnostic check they said we should get the car checked out by a mechanic before heading home since we had a 7 and a half hour drive.we drove to 3 shops and they did not want to help us everyone said we needed and appointment. We went to norms as our last resort to see if they could help.we were giving up hope but thank God that the lady that was there and the mechanic helped us out and explained that I had nothing to worry about with the check engine light it would be ok to drive home. What I am trying to say is that if u are ever in lake tahoe and need an honest and trustworthy mechanic please dont wate your time going anywhere else go to norms they are amazing people.

Mark Wittlich Norm’s was an experience I wasn’t expecting, I always hear Norm’s is too expensive and takes too long to get anything repaired. NOT TRUE, Josh and staff herd that were having financial problems due to medical issues and we blew a head gasket. We got 3 estimates and they beat them all. Even went above and beyond and not only fixed the Head Gasket but put in a new radiator and replaced the Timing Belt and Transmission flush and the 60,000 mile service that was overdue, we got the car back in a timely manner and the car was cleaned and runs perfectly. We are so pleased with Norm’s we will use them from now on. Great Christian people and even better customer service. You guys were there when we needed you and we are so grateful that words cannot explain the happiness we are feeling. Thanks so much for the honest, hard work. You guys deserve a medal. M and Z

LOVE FAITH-HOPE Yes, ALTITUDE can effect engine performance, even in some newer vehicles. Mine started acting sluggish right when I got to South Tahoe. I panicked and thought it was my transmission. Checked all the fluids and everything. I mean the car made it all the way from Modesto so why would it suddenly go bad ? So I just kept going carefully and slowly. Made it back to the lower level and everything was running fine again. My only conclusion was that it was the altitude , not getting enough oxygen. Sure, maybe I need a tune-up too.

Alison Tacker I would give John 10 Stars if I could!!! My Audi was having issues as I was making my way back to The Bay and I knew I wasnt gonna make it. John absolutely made the experience of breaking down the best it could possibly be. He clearly is an expert in his craft. I really appreciated his communication on what the issues were and how quickly he could get it repaired. His expertise and level setting of expectations made me feel comfortable and confident that I had found the best in the business to get me back on the road. Renny Slatkin I was in Lake Tahoe for one day and needed an emergency repair for my Audi S4. Higher ground is the only Audi/BMW service in South Lake Tahoe and thus is extremely busy. John, the owner, provided the best service I could have wanted. Not only is he an exceptionally talented technician, hes attentive, honest and really a good guy. He repaired my car while I waited and I was able to catch a half day of skiing before driving 200 miles home. I am extremely grateful to John and would definitely have him service any of my cars in the future. I am so satisfied that I am considering scheduling a maintenance service on my next trip to Tahoe!

Emily Davis I found a huge screw in my tire and called Big Brand Tire & Service while far from home, but just miles from their shop in South Lake Tahoe. "Come right in!" they said, and patched up my tire, free of charge! While I waited, I marveled at the excellent service Erica provided for customers in line and on the phones. She is friendly, knowledgable, energetic, and cheerfully communicative with EVERYONE. Devon was the efficient mechanic assigned to my Toyota and kindly explained this unlucky tire is on its last patch before I should replace it. They were thorough and generous enough to replace my key fob battery too, when they noticed the warning that it needed a new one. I was so impressed with the professionalism and the pace of their great service. Highly recommend for your tire needs anywhere within driving distance!

Mark Foster The whole team down there did a great job for me. This is the first time I actually had a local business up here beat Carson pricing. And these were not off brand…I bought BFG KO3’s. The Alignment guy was really cool as well, caught a ball joint going bad and let me know before the He did his work. I was able to go home, replace the ball joint and they did the Alignment as soon as I returned. Thanks for all the help! See you all for the next set!

Victoria Hemenes Honestly super disappointed in the service that was provided by the technician everything started out great, quickly got me in ect. Reason for going in, needed new tires before a long trip as back drivers side kept going flat and tires were getting bald. They ordered a replaced my tires quickly but the technician damaged all 4 rims with the tools he used to remove them. He also scratched my car rubbing against it with his jacket zippers. The store ended up giving me a 400$ credit which was much appreciated. Fwd 3 days later I drove mine and other athletes to santa Clara sports event only to find i have a flat again back passenger tire. But with the new tires. Put air in and drove back. Took it into the shop and they said I have a cracked rim, and that I must of hit a pot hole in the bay. Which we did not at all! The only pot holes Ive ever hit was in tahoe months ago, meaning my rim was cracked when I brought it in and they didnt tell me and they still put tires on and sent me on my way. Extremely dangerous!!!!! The whole experience was stressful and now Im not able to drive my only car until my rim arrives! Will not go back!

Brian Mulis We highly recommend this company. This was the first place google directed us to when we encountered a burning smell coming from under the hood of our car 1000+ miles away from home. We pulled up 1 minute after the shop was scheduled to close, but Brady didnt hesitate to help us out and look under the hood. He helped us diagnose that we had a faulty battery that was leaking acid and smoking under the engine compartment. Brady was extremely helpful in obtaining a new battery from a local auto store and installed the new battery to get us back on our way.
