Maple Nose2 I have been very fortunate to have had Star cut my hair for around 15 years now and have never written a review, which is ridiculous because Star provides the most consistently high quality service of anybody I work with in my life, across any service dimension. Some context: I am a male in my late forties, and I started getting haircuts from Star in my early 30s. When I first met Star, I had not planned on paying much for a hair cut or wanting to go to a professional; I had always felt that the fast barbershop haircuts I received were pretty mediocre, but I didnt see value in paying for a higher level of service. And then I met Star pretty much by accident at a large salon where she used to work, and ever since, I have seen it differently… Back then, as now, I found that Star really worked to make my haircut look fantastic. She is clearly well-trained and very talented, but the differentiator is that she takes pride in her work! That is so important because it means that she wants the haircut to be great not just to make me happy but also to make her happy. And because she does such a careful and quality job with my haircuts, they last much longer - my hair can grow out and still look good for several weeks beyond what I experience with others. Net net, I would highly highly recommend Star to anyone looking for a quality haircut -- and she is a very nice person as well. Also important to note -- Star had owned her own Stardust Hair Salon location in Palo Alto but had to sell it after the COVID hit, so she now works out of Jax Salon in Menlo Park (and fortunately her haircuts are just as good!).

Cynthia Booker Star is brilliant with color. I’ve lived in Menlo Park for over 3 years, been to many salons trying to find the perfect colorist for blonde hair. I finally found Star! She listened to exactly what I wanted. She gave me the light ash blonde the others couldn’t. She treated my hair like her canvas and took great care to ensure it stayed healthy. My hair looks expensive with high end color yet her prices are reasonable She is a positive, warm person who makes you feel at ease in her care. I am absolutely going back to her. Star is the best!

Robert Nicol Very nice and clean hair salon! Setareh is an excellent stylist who cuts my hair and my daughters for the last several years. I highly recommend her and her techniques. And I feel safe during Covid because she follows the mandated protocols and social distancing.

amanda hernandez I love this place! I found Setareh and Stardust Salon before the Covid shut down. She is nothing short of welcoming to everyone who comes in. Her cut and color is always magic and she’s also good with brainstorming new ideas! Sometimes I walk in not knowing what I want and her suggestions have always worked out for me! I was finally able to book an appointment after the salons were allowed to open and I was more impressed with the cleanliness and sanitization protocols that were in place. I felt safe and Setareh was always making sure that I was comfortable. I would definitely recommend Stardust Salon and Setareh to anyone who is thinking about going!

Ali Peterson I love Lynn! She’s the only person who’s ever been able to achieve the hair color I was looking for. And trust me, I tried multiple people. I was actually kind of scared to try another person after being burned so many times. Her balayage is perfect and grows out beautifully. Her prices are extremely reasonably too. She’s also just a lovely person you won’t mind spending hours in a chair with. First photo is when I originally had it done, second is grown out. She also sells Olaplex at a great price and has fantastic recommendations for products. She gave me a free bottle of tinted conditioner to try, and I love it. I use it regularly now.

Ursula Schnyder Lynn is a super talented hair stylist, and a very nice person to be around. She loves her job and makes everything look easy - styling, cutting, coloring - even though its not easy at all. Lynn is a perfectionist in cutting and styling, and above all a master colorist. She deeply cares about always mixing the exact right color for my hair, which is really important. I highly recommend Lynns exceptional work!

Kriti Sidram Lynn is super helpful and knows what she’s doing. She was so helpful in guiding me through care and applying color at home. And she’s conveniently located in the heart of Palo Alto. One pointer is park in the right location! She usually guides you as to where to park.

I found her through a referral from a woman who passed me on the sidewalk on California Ave; she had curly hair and the perfect haircut, so I stopped her and asked where she goes....at that time (2007 or so), Claudia was at Aveda, and when that shop closed she moved over to Jonathan David. Ive lived in several cities/states over the years, and theres a significant improvement in how my hair looks when Im able to get it cut with Claudia.

Kira Code This place is not fancy, but man’s standard short haircut is 20$ it is more Mexican style haircuts, but it is very decent. Don’t expect anything fancy, but quality is there. It is cash only place. We were not been forced to tip. Which is really great nowadays! Really appreciate it. The owner spoke in Spanish and English. So you can choose your own language;) They also have bike parking next to the place, or they let one man to bring his bike into the place while he had his haircut. They were also pretty fast, we didn’t do appointment, so we walked in and waited just 10 minutes and they did hair cut-short ( level 4) in like 20 minutes

Matthew Reeve Fantastic service! Extremely clean and safe shop. Tom is great at all types of hair and nails, and his wife Ann is superb at nails. She has the most amazing massage skills with her pedicures. Prices are very competitive for this area. Make an appointment - they can get very busy. Pro Tip: go in the front door on your first visit (parking meters), but when finished get familiar with the back door entrance. The parking there is free for a couple hours and makes for easy entrance. - just ask them for permission to do that on your next visit!

Patricia Byrne I absolutely love this place and the owners , staff, they are so friendly and do a great job. I have been going to this wonderful spot for over 14 years now. I also have my girlfriends going , god daughter and my own daughter going. I was pregnant with my twins and when i got so big the even wax my legs. If theyre not busy, they will accept walk-ins, yet this shop is busy. I recommend you call ahead for an appointment. Of course they do nails, pedicures, and Ann is my gal for waxing. She is efficient, quick which makes the process more comfortable. I went to many salons in the area, yet Salon Image is my "go to" sure thing place. Enjoy!

I saw Rose for a color correction, after having my hair turned orange by another stylist at a different salon, and she absolutely went above and beyond to fix the mess I came in with. I left feeling like myself again, nearly identical to the inspiration photo. Not an easy feat with the canvas I showed up with! She was kind, knowledgeable and so attentive to detail. Overall, the salon has a welcoming and sunny vibe, and the plus of having two sweet shop puppies!

LC Nichols One star for a full refund. I asked for a feather layer with bang chin length haircut. What I got for $168 (not including tip) was a box shape botched layer haircut. Box shape is being nice, picture a mullet. The right side layers are shorter, creating a hole. Not sure why but Monica and another hair cutter asked me which side I part??? What? Layers are even and blended! There must be a lot of mercury in the water in the bay area. Monica offered to recut. I think I will end up with a pixie. I asked another hair cutter and she said she will have to cut a lot off! She told me to wait for my hair to grow out. I do not recommend this salon. Save your money. $168 is too much to flush down the toilet. My hair cut by Monica was student level and there was no teacher to correct her botched cut.

Kaleo I love Pam so much!! Literally the only person i trust with my hair. It started with my dad getting his haircuts from her, and bringing me along- and suddenly i was getting my haircut by her. Katia Varfolomeeva Such a great experience with Pam Romero! Im naturally blond and was looking to refresh a few highlights since Im visiting from out of state for a while. This was my first time at the salon, and to get someone who can just grasp and execute so well and so quickly on blond hair without making it too brassy, too yellow, too obvious or just too blond is incredible. Ive been getting light highlights for the last 20 years and have moved around a lot, so it often takes months of trial and error with stylists. Jan Harris This is THE nail salon for me in Palo Alto. Helen and Nina are friendly, attentive, prompt and very skilled. They have gone the extra mile in personal service to me, assisting with an injured big toenail—first helping to make it less unsightly, and later (after it had fallen off) sculpting a new cosmetically perfect nail for me over the partially regrown toenail. (I am visiting my daughter here and no nail salon at home has offered to help at all!) The salon is comfortable, clean and pleasant to sit in— especially because all their customers seem to know them well and be very fond of them! I will be returning to Beautiful Moon on every visit to Palo Alto!

S L This is supposed to be an upscale salon in Palo Alto. The only aspect of the upscale part is how much you’ll end up paying. Very crowded, noisy, crammed facility with service that does not even begin to justify a $200.00 blow out. Furniture is dated, decor is cheap with cold coffee service in the back.

Nicole Harris If I could give a higher rating I would. While the services are pricey, it’s worth your dollar. Liam always dyes my hair and it’s because he always does such a phenomenal job I have no reason to look elsewhere, and he’s so wonderful and great at asking you about how you’re doing and making sure you feel like a priority! I also had Joanne cut my hair and she did a spectacular job as well, my layers look fantastic and I love the shorter length for summer! She and I have similar interests so I had a lovely time “nerding out” with one of the cutest people I’ve met. She took me in on short notice and did a fantastic job. Both were so awesome and I’m so happy with how my hair turned out and am so excited to take pictures at my cousin’s upcoming wedding in 2 weeks!

Dimitra C. I went to this salon for a color correction after a previous appointment at another place left me with uneven highlights—some of which turned orange, especially near my face and roots. The majority of my hair, from my ears down to my chest, was a light beige blonde, and my goal was to correct the orange tones in the highlights near my roots while maintaining the lighter blonde on my ends. The stylist informed me that we would have to darken the areas where the orange tones were present. I understood this to mean only certain sections—not my entire head. However, when my hair was dried, I was shocked to see that my hair from top to bottom had turned dark brown. When I questioned the stylist, she insisted that she had told me we would be going darker. I would have never agreed to going full brunette, as that was completely different from what I had requested. She reassured me that it was a demi-permanent dye that would fade completely in a month, allowing my blonde to return and making it easier to redo my highlights. Fast forward a month, and my hair has not faded back to blonde. Instead, it is still a brassy brown, far from the result I was expecting. When I called the salon to address the issue, I was told that they only do corrections within two weeks. This makes no sense, considering the stylist explicitly told me to wait a month for the color to fade—something that never happened. I’m extremely disappointed with the miscommunication, the unexpected results, and the lack of accountability from the salon. I trusted them to correct a mistake, and instead, I was left with a bigger issue and no resolution. Would not recommend based on this experience.

Maribel Oseguera I recently had a haircut with Jessica, and I am extremely pleased with the outcome. I went from long to short hair and I absolutely adore my new look! I was a bit nervous taking so much length off but I know I wanted a cute modern bob (not a mom bob). Jessica was very professional and devoted time to truly understand my desires. She carefully listened to my preferences and brought my haircut vision to life flawlessly. I would highly recommend Jessica if you are wanting to go short!

Lauren Rubin My daughters love getting their hair cut at Prep with Sherry. The salon is always clean, they have iPads for the kids and popcorn and lollipops once the appointment is done. Tipping is done seamlessly through texting. My girls are always excited to come get their hair cut. I’d give this place ten stars if I could!

Kid friendly shop, clean, and not busy (we had appointment made prior). My 8 year daughter also had her hair cut, and she enjoyed it. I saw HUGE differences in my skin and the massage I received with the facial was so relaxing! I walked out with my previously dry and blemished skin looking soooo much more smooth and it has a glow I had not seen in my skin for years. If it is your first time you can get a 20% discount as well! Highly recommend As for my haircut, Loiy gave me the haircut I was dreaming of! I wanted a very particular short hair cut that is more masculine and previous salons I visited told me they couldn’t do a ‘barber cut’ on a woman… However, this was not the case at Vizavoo. When I told Loiy what I wanted, he completely understood and gave me EXACTLY what I was looking for (see photo) THANK YOU LOIY AND ELIANA

Meghana Nallapareddy I highly recommend Vizavoo salon. Not only do they provide excellent service, but everyone in the salon is super friendly. Hudy is a fantastic hairstylist. She is the only person I trust to cut and style my thick curly hair -- (naturally, blowout, straightened, she can do it all). She is also very accommodating. After my last haircut, I wasnt quite satisfied with the shape of my curls, and she offered to fix it for free. I found Vizavoo because they were the only place to have an appointment available during the holiday season, but because of their high quality service, I will now be returning as a regular customer.

Whitney Owens BEWARE LASH LADY. I am absolutely mortified by my eyelash experience. I kept being poked in the lash line over and over again. I asked her to put the end of the lash further away from my line. I don’t think she understood and kept poking me saying “this is the way I always do it, they are beautiful”. She gave me a mirror at the end and I can’t believe how bad they are. When I blink i can feel every lash poking my eye. Some are even stuck onto the lid itself. They are uneven, stuck, not even round. Not lifted. I don’t understand how she’s had any luck with this method? I just left crying! I have an event to go to and they are crooked and burn. I have been getting them done for years with full voluminous experience. It felt disorganized in her moving back and forth and didn’t even meticulously go through each lash. I am in pain and disbelief. In addition, the place smelled of burnt hair when I walked in. It was overwhelming and I asked if the eyelash room was somewhere else. Had to ask her to shut the door it smelled awful. I am so disappointed. I have never had such a terrible experience in my life. Stuff of my nightmares. You can’t mess around with your eyes. Do not go.

Audrey Gao Got a Brazilian Blow out with Loiy! He paid special attention to my roots to make sure my blowout still had volume. I walled in with frizzy, bleach damaged hair, and walked out with the softest, shiniest hair of my life . Highly, highly recommend Loiy!

Edson Jiménez Went in for a haircut and got a shorter cut than expected. With that said, 2 weeks of it growing out and me getting more used to it, its probably the best haircut Ive ever had! Theres a lot of layers and movement which help make the haircut look natural and organic. Ive got naturally wavy hair and this haircut really shows em off. Annelies Gamble Ive been going to Kaycee for my color for 5+ years and I dont know where to even begin with how much I love her, and what shes done with my hair! My hair is the healthiest its ever been and yet I get highlights every few months. Kaycee knows exactly what to do. I dont need to give her any direction and she just does it. She changes it slightly every time, especially based on the seasons. It is so natural and doesnt require any upkeep. Whenever I meet someone who doesnt know me, they think Im naturally blonde. And if/when I tell them I get highlights, they always want to know where I get them done! KAYCEE IS THE BEST! And Spoke and Weal in general is amazing. I go there for my haircuts too and I just cant say enough good things. They pamper you. The scalp massage is amazing and their blow-outs are beautiful!!!

COLOR: Kaycee is such a good colorist. It’s an art and she does it so well. When I want to make a drastic color change or just brighten things up a bit, she’s game. CUT: Lindsey is so meticulous with her dry cut skills. Whether it’s a trim, touch-up in between cuts, or a major chop (I’ve done all of those with her), I am always psyched with the results. I love spending time here. It’s a beautiful bright space, light and airy, with super-high ceilings. Side note: The Fiddle Leaf Fig tree in the front is incredible. Highly recommend Kaycee, Lindsey and their team.

Koko Ko I had a great experience at La Belle hair salon. Oksana carefully listened to what I wanted and gave me the perfect haircut, the best i had in years! She is a super skillful professional and did an amazing job! The highlights are absolutely stunning—subtle yet vibrant, and they blend so naturally with my hair. I’ve received so many compliments already! The attention to detail and the care Oksana took to ensure I was happy with the results were exceptional. I’ll definitely be coming back.

Highly recommend this spa overall. I have a facial here before and it was one of the best I have had.

Melissa LaBelle is the best spa on the peninsula. Always friendly and helpful staff and excellent service providers. Facials are excellent and it’s my go to nail place.

I wish LaBelle would add the Dazzle Dry nail care line so I could get my mani/pedis at LaBelle instead of the other high end spa that charges $130.

Alika Serrato Sean greeted us at the door and made sure every step of our spa experience was phenomenal. I had easily one of the best massages of my life thanks to Hana. She had incredible levels of strength and really got deep behind my shoulder blades and worked on some knots that have been traveling with me for a while. She was so thorough and went over every part of me. I absolutely feel like a new human. I will absolutely be back when in town. I also met Zara on the way out, so friendly and helpful. They absolutely treat you like family.

Tim Waymouth This place rocks!! Tracy was my hair stylist and she reminds me of my asian aunties (but nicer). As a man with mid length hair getting a good cut is a struggle and she nailed it. The amazing service combined with the competitive pricing truly makes this salon one of a kind. I will definitely be going back!!

Nguyen Chuong Vo Both times I’ve come here, they ask me to show them pictures. The pictures was of a longer hairstyle and my hair was pretty long so they could have just trimmed it. They always ignored whatever the picture were and gave me a really short men haircut. Both times. Two different hairdressers. It’s the same hairstyle that could be achieved at a 15-20 dollar mom and pop shop that children and elderly Asian men go to. If that’s your style, go there and save the extra 30 bucks.

John Qiu Had a great haircut with Tracy - I was going from long to short hair and she stayed late and took extra time to make sure the new hairstyle looked good. Very reasonably priced and also enjoyed the shampoo with neck/shoulder massage.
