1 /5 Rolando Herrejon: I took my truck to Military Car Care because the engine was overheating and requested a diagnostic to determine the cause. Hamid called back and said the thermostat needed to be replaced. We agreed to the repair, but then he mentioned that the first coil was bent, which would cost more to fix. Since that repair was outside my budget, I declined.
However, after picking up my truck, I barely made it ten minutes down the road before the engine started overheating again. Then, the timing belt snapped, and the battery light turned on. We immediately called Hamid, who sent a mechanic as a show of good faith, stating that they strive to go beyond for their customers.
Upon inspection, the mechanic found that the timing belt snapped due to a cracked tensioner pulley—half of it was missing. This should have been noticeable during the initial diagnostic if they had thoroughly checked the engine. Hamid later admitted they “don’t check for everything.” Additionally, the battery bolts were not fully seated, and the battery itself was loose, which is concerning.
In the end, I paid for a repair that didn’t resolve the original problem and left with more issues than when I arrived. To make matters worse, the mechanic became unprofessional after I left, yelling at my ex with excuses instead of taking accountability.
I would advise caution when considering this shop for repairs. My experience suggests they might do more harm than good to your vehicle.
