1 /5 Nathan Meeker: I just moved to Gig Harbor and have been checking out gyms in the area. This place advertises a drop-in option on their site, so my girlfriend called to ask about it. Instead of just handling it over the phone, we were told to fill out an online form. The form doesn’t actually schedule anything—it just collects your contact info and says someone will reach out.
The drop-in rate is $20 for a single day (worth knowing up front). I filled out the form and got a text the next day asking when I wanted to come in. I replied with a specific day and time two days later, but I didn’t hear back until the morning of that day—only to be told my requested time didn’t work. Very frustrating.
What kind of gym doesn’t have regular staffed hours where you can just walk in, pay, and try it out? Between that experience, the high membership prices, and the number of reviews mentioning how hard it is to cancel, I decided not to bother.
Save yourself the hassle—go to the Y instead.
