1 /5 Jennifer Vande Zande: After ordering a host of tests for a serious medical issue, I didn’t hear back. I called the office and was told I needed to make an appt. Got to the office, was then told they don’t accept my Blue Cross, and that I needed to pay out of pocket ($400). I pulled out my HSA card and was told they don’t accept cards … and that I couldn’t get my results without an appointment. Since almost two months had gone by, I decided I needed the results so that I could find other care. They directed me to an ATM because I couldn’t pay after the appointment either. While I sat in the room, he stayed in the hall to read my results - which had been sent over previously; he didn’t even look at them until I got to the office and paid cash. Difficult to think that I’m seen as anything more than an opportunity to make money. Really, really disappointed. (Also there’s a sign on their door that says you must not enter without a mask and they don’t have any to give out. If you don’t have one, you’ll have to reschedule … an office without a patient portal, or reminder calls where they could mention things like needing to bring cash to get your test results and wear a mask - it’s like they’re looking for every opportunity NOT to provide patient care).
