1 /5 Jacob Farneth: Listen, everyones going to have a different experience at a specific school, but here is my perspective coming someone who spent the first-year at Bing, and then transferred out to a school I enjoy much more.
Bing is a competitive school, but not sure why to be honest. Not just Bing, but all SUNY schools are located in the worst locations besides maybe Buffalo. Many courses are filled, so not the best leaning experience in STEM fields. Many professors are only there to continue their job in research and dont value actually educating. Hate to be a hater, but in my all subjective opinion: Bing is an ugly campus on the outside and so many things need to be updated, including the lecture hall. The weather is pretty bad, but thats not surprising, considering it being Upstate NY. Its cold and dark nearly 3/4s of the year - which can amplify depression. Felt like the school valued its reputation & prestige over students. Think about all these factors before just deciding to go because its a competitive school. I wish I did!
On the bright side: the cost was fair and generous in my merit scholarship, but: if you can go somewhere cheaper- I would go there.
