Claude Tice This used to be a really great church, I can’t believe the way they have let this go. The current preacher doesn’t wear a suit or a tie. I guess I’m old school. He talks like we’re a bunch of teenagers, and a lot of his sermons rarely mention a lot of scripture.. The former preachers were really good, even Pastor Welch was a better preacher than this guy. I hope the deacons will take this into consideration. It’s a shame we can have a pastor like John Haggee.

School academy coffee shop (you have to pay for the coffee) great place with great people just money is required every time you turn around. Not much intimacy. Men’s room is very cognizant of us men taking care of babies too.

Ariel W. The First Christian Church of Ft Lauderdale was started by Maude Bollinger and Ruth Repp who offered Sunday school classes on Repps front porch to the Ft Lauderdale community which was only 143 people at that time. Church services were held at several locations in Ft. Lauderdale including the old Fort Lauderdale Sentinel building.
In 1925, a benefactor donated land for a church at the corner of Southeast 13th Street and Southeast Third Avenue on the site of a former rock pit. Lumber to build the church arrived on Sept. 16, 1926. The very next day the Hurricane of 1926 destroyed the church records, lumber, the tent they were working out of, and all of their equipment. Two children and two adult members of the congregation lost their lives. The church rose from this devastating loss and completed the church building in 1927. A later expanded building incorporates the original church structure.
I love a historic church and I was able to check out First Christian Church of Ft Lauderdale during a tag sale. They held the sale in their basement! I was amazed that there was a building with an actual basement in South Florida. The congregation was so warm and welcoming and I got invited to church service by Katherine. This church is gorgeous and you can feel the history within its walls. Church services are held every Sunday at 10:45.

Michael Buonaiuto Ive been attending Rio Vista for just over a year now. I really like the small group that we meet up with on Tuesday nights. I appreciate the dedication to having a coffee hour in between services. I feel welcomed and comfortable to share my struggles with church leaders...even to the point I am going to attend couples counseling with the associate pastor, his wife, and my girlfriend.
The worship is good. Very predictable. Never too rocky, never too sappy. The sermon (no matter who is preaching) is always introspective. Pastor Tom was a lawyer and my future father-in-law said he thought Toms message was laid out like a case. I guess thats true sometimes but for me, its more of an easy to listen to guy sharing whats on his heart and pointing the answer to the cross.
There are consistently events happening at the church like game nights, young adult nights, mens breakfasts, rallies, worship nights...and theyre just about to open a new building next door that Im really excited for.
Rio Vista is in a beautiful part of town and I feel truly blessed to be part of a church I can lean on like a family.

Tonya Williams I love my church and church family! I have attended Mt. Olive since I was 16 years old. Beautiful church family. If youre looking for a church home this is the church. Our pastor is an excellent pastor along with the rest of the Mt. Olive staff. Dont let the negative reviews discourage you from visiting our church in person or online. If you notice, the Negative reviews comes from people who never leaves reviews but took the time to try and bash our church.... they have a total of 1-2 reviews. I leave reviews, no matter good or bad. Review history of a person tells a story about who they are somewhat and thats my opinion and how I judge an establishment before I go.
