1 /5 Kevin McPheeters: It is hard to find a paint shop that will paint a vehicle that has not been in a collision nowadays, thats how I ended up in Macclenny from Jacksonville. I had my car painted in April. I have been disappointed from the beginning, but figured I got hosed and would take my lumps and call it a lesson learned. Unfortunately, even five months later I am finding issues and feel the need to state these issues, so that any future customer is fully informed.
1) I was told the paint job would take 5 days. I gave them two weeks, as I was on vacation. Upon return, I still had to wait an extra day because they were not done with it.
2) Upon receipt, there was so much haze on my windows I could barely see to drive home. I assumed it was some sort of protectant against overspray. Nope it WAS overspray. I called to ask about it and was told to bring it back and they would take care of it. I live an hour away. I was not going to drive back so you can fix your mistake. I had to scrub the windows with a fine grade steel wool. To this day there is still residue.
3) I was told that there was a one year warranty on the paint job, except for the nose of the hood (where my biggest issues were). I was told a bunch of hooey that there was some sort of defect in the alloy of Ford hoods and paint issues were constantly popping up. I say hooey because I was told the bad areas would be sanded, filled and primed in this area. It was primed and painted. There was no prep beyond priming. I know this because I can still see chip marks that were just painted over.
4) Plugs and bulbs were not remounted properly, if at all.
5) Parts were broken and "repaired" with a cheap glue job that held long enough to get me out the door. I know the shop broke them because the parts that I had to replace had never been removed from the vehicle before this project. No one reported this damage took place.
6) Parts were missing that I had to buy replacements for.
7) I had some rust work on the inside of one of the doors that I requested repaired. It appears that it was filled with a two part epoxy that was mixed improperly, because it is still sticky to the touch five months later. On top of that, they didnt even bother to sand it down our paint it.
Overall, a huge disappointment and I post this review as a BUYER BEWARE.
Response to owners response:
1) I live in Jacksonville, so from the beginning getting my vehicle to you was out of my way. If you offer car pick up, I would be interested.
2) I specifically scheduled my original paint job during a period of time that I was on vacation, at a time that I would not need transportation. Do you offer a loaner vehicle, or reimbursement for a car rental? I need a vehicle for work.
3) Will I be reimbursed for the parts that I have had to replace that were broken during this project?
4) Will the nose of the hood be fixed in this process? The office manager was quite specific that the warranty doesnt cover Ford hoods, but it really is unacceptable how poorly the hood turned out. I would have understood if issues had presented in a year or two, definitely not a month or two. The hood area was not prepped as was described to me.
