2 /5 Lacey Mitchell: I had a nice experience with my first child. Didn’t care for the doctors much but the other staff and facility was fantastic. However, this second time around, I went to go back and had my first ultrasound and a video visit with a midwife. I then received a $500 bill, and we found out when we received that bill that Sutter doesn’t accept our insurance (which hadn’t changed since the first birth). I get it, we should have looked into this. But I birthed there less than two years ago and didn’t think anything would have changed. I also thought the staff, whom asked for my insurance cards 2-3 times, would have informed me that we were no longer in network. We called and of course got the “sorry we can’t help you” answer, so now are stuck with a $750 bill for a video visit and ultrasound. And of course had to find a new provider. I just don’t understand how it’s okay for them to just take our insurance and not even mention we aren’t in network. But they got paid, guess that’s all that matters to them.
