Colleen Golden On our drive up to Lake Tahoe from San Diego, our car’s “check engine” light appeared. It was the 4th of July weekend & we were coming up for our daughter’s wedding. Struve automotive was recommended by a local & we brought the car in on Monday morning. Charlie had a counter full of keys for cars awaiting work, but he was very nice & said he would look at our car even though he was very busy. We received a call from him several hours later & they were able to identify the error and let us know the car would be safe to drive! The cost was very reasonable & we cannot thank him enough for helping us out! He even gave us suggestions for hikes in the area. I highly recommend! Colleen & Josh

Alison Tacker I would give John 10 Stars if I could!!! My Audi was having issues as I was making my way back to The Bay and I knew I wasnt gonna make it. John absolutely made the experience of breaking down the best it could possibly be. He clearly is an expert in his craft. I really appreciated his communication on what the issues were and how quickly he could get it repaired. His expertise and level setting of expectations made me feel comfortable and confident that I had found the best in the business to get me back on the road. If I lived closer, hed be the only person I would trust to work on my car. I often travel to South Tahoe, would be thrilled to schedule further maintenance at Higher Ground.

Bill Meenk I spoke with Elise a couple times before my scheduled repair. I was confident that she knew what she was talking about. I drove 150 miles to have them replace my exhaust manifold. When I got there, they had the right part, and the repair went as planned. They even took the time to show me exactly where the original manifold had failed. Their father started this shop years ago, and now that he is gone, his kids take great pride in providing honest repair services at fair prices. My repair would have been over $3000 at Subaru, but $1400 here! Very personal service! By the way, Subaru offered a 1 year warranty, but NAPA gave me 8 years.

They gave me a clear estimate, kept me updated throughout the repair process, and delivered my car looking like new—actually better than before the accident. The staff was friendly, and they handled all the insurance paperwork, which made the entire process stress-free. You can tell they take pride in their work and care about their customers. Liana Young I had the best experience here. I had the low tire pressure light come on while driving on Highway 89 toward South Lake. Because my tire had recently been patched for a nail, I wanted to get it checked by professionals before continuing my road trip. I looked online and saw a good review for Five Star. When I arrived, the kind couple immediately said one of their mechanics could take a look. Bob, one of the most helpful people I have run into in awhile, checked all of my tires. Not only did he remedy the problem, but he shared valuable knowledge on how to deal with tires in general! I left with such gratitude to him and the whole staff for helping me feel safe to get back on my journey. They all felt like angels to me. I would recommend Five Star Automotive next time you’re in South Lake.

Don Larson I had a problem with my 2018 Subaru Outback. It suddenly would not move forward without a “stuttering” action. Got towed to Todd’s shop on a Friday afternoon. He was busy with other cars. We left it with him and by 5:00 PM he had determined that everything seemed fine. He hooked it up to his diagnostic computer and reset the system. Drove it all over with no issues. When I picked up the car before he closed on Friday he would not take any payment…saying “I didn’t do anything”. Oh but he did…He affirmed my faith that there are still people of GREAT CHARACTER. I concur with the other reviewers in their compliments to this man. Great to have a mechanic I can go to when I’m at my Tahoe home.

Gary Castleman Went in with what I thought was a a big issue, found out it was very minor. I called all of Tahoe and every place was a week out. Nick took time out of his schedule to help me get my vehicle going. This was true professional service for me.
