Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula

Sabina Damaschin Disclaimer: Ive only been to a hospital a handful of times, so my experience it limited to 3 hospitals. I had a very smooth delivery at CHOMP in February 2024. The staff and nurses were extremely caring and patient. The room was clean and large. My husband slept on a sofa bed. Food was pretty good, and I could control the room temperature, which was nice. The baby never left my side, everything was done in the room except the hearing test. I asked to be discharged a day early, and they were able to accommodate me. They also provided my family with a gift/ congratulations bag... their was a stuffed animal, onesie, gift card to a restaurant and blanket among under things. Also, in April 2024, I brought my sick 3 month old into the ER and was admitted immediately. I likely saw the doctor within 15 minutes of walking in. Staff and nurses were very efficient with their procedures and time. Picture is of the ER. Overall, it was an excellent hospital... they went above and beyond my expectations.

Monterey Bay GI Consultants Medical Group Inc. - Gastroenterologist Monterey

Marina M. First of all, my doctor is great. I trust his opinion, and appreciate that he listens to me. Office staff are helpful and polite, and Ive never had an excessively long wait. (Big plus for current times!) The office is impeccably clean, and the building is in a beautiful location.

Doctors on Duty Medical Clinics

Lauren Bolobov Called to ask about bringing my daughter in who was having stomach pain and diarrhea. The girl on the phone said that because she had diarrhea she couldn’t be seen in person since it’s a symptom of covid, which I understand, but she only has diarrhea and no other symptoms and the diarrhea had been ongoing for a couple days, still no other symptoms so I was thinking stomach bug or food poisoning. After I asked if she was serious about not being able to see a toddler for only stomach pain and no other covid symptoms, she hung up on me. I called back, spoke to someone else who unfortunately just transferred me back to the same person I was talking to before. She was even more rude talking to her the second time and wouldn’t admit to hanging up on me, but ok. She suggested we do a virtual appointment and since I was really desperate to be seen I agreed. Idk how a virtual appointment was going to be useful, but like I said I was desperate. Then she said “oh we actually don’t have any virtual appointments left today”. *facepalm* I said thanks but this is urgent and I would need to call someone else, hung up. Called Mogo 30 seconds later and they IMMEDIATELY and compassionately invited us to come in and get my daughter seen in person. If you want cold, unfeeling, bratty staff to talk to about your child’s urgently needed appointment, go here. Mogo took care of us and were super understanding about the whole thing. They were happy to see us in person and way more professional and kind.

Dr. Casey Andrew Grover

Cynthia SCHMIDLIN Dr. Casey Grover saw my husband at the CHOMPS ER recently, following a fall and concussion. He diagnosed Hydrocephalus, after ordering a CAT scan to determine any underlying causes for the fall, other than balance issues occurring for over two years. Not one of the doctors or physical therapists who have been seeing him thought of testing for this condition. Like hundreds of thousands who are afflicted with Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus, his symptoms were attributed to arthritis and other age-related issues. The neurologist to whom Dr. Grover referred us confirmed the diagnosis. He referred us to a neurosurgeon who can operate to drain the excess cranial spinal fluid in his brain, stop any further neurological damage, and reverse some serious symptoms. Thank you, Dr. Grover, from the bottom of our hearts.
