The Fit Lab

Margaret Fordham I have wanted to get healthy for years, however I was unsure how to go about getting there. I read about the Fitness Lab and Sean’s approach and decided to talk with him about how his program could work for me. I am now 5 weeks into my 12-week program with him and it has been such a positive experience. Sean listened to what my goals are and created not only a workout plan but also a meal plan that is diverse, delicious and nutritious. Not once have I felt deprived or overwhelmed with my personalized program. I get to work with Sean and his other trainers that are patient, knowledgeable and wonderful overall. It is amazing how much stronger I feel week after week. I can feel a difference in my energy level and how my clothes fit. I am excited to continue and improve my health.

Red Effect Infrared Fitness

Prissy Rose I’ve been going to this gym in East Village for a while now, and it’s truly one of the best out there. Not only is it open 24 hours, which makes it super convenient for any schedule, but the facility is also incredibly clean, which adds to the whole experience. They have a great free weights area and a sauna that you can use as part of your workout — the benefits of training in the heat are amazing for endurance and recovery! They also offer classes that are fantastic for all fitness levels, from beginners like myself to more advanced members. The classes are led by virtual instructors on screen. Plus, the private atmosphere means it’s never overcrowded, so you can really focus. The owner is another highlight — friendly and genuinely attentive to members’ needs, which makes a huge difference. I highly recommend this gym if you’re looking for a great new spot in East Village!

Chuze Fitness

Carlo N. Chuze Fitness is a popular upper middle class gym club in SD. They have different locations throughout SoCal. This location is very spacious and clean. They have all the weights and barbells, locker rooms, cardio machines etc. I like their facility, staff and the protein shake bar. Free wifi and parking are available. Overall, I recommend you Chuze.

Orangetheory Fitness

Gina Coates I love this gym! Ive been attending classes at Orange Theory Mission Valley since 2019 and I absolutely love it. Its the perfect combo of cardio and strength training. All the coaches are super knowledgeable and encouraging. Love the front desk sales associates as well. It is such a welcoming and positive environment. Thank you OTF Mission Valley for always providing an amazing workout!!

Hardcore Fitness Downtown San Diego

Filipe Albergoni I can’t say enough good things about this gym and its incredible staff! The trainers are professional, positive, and truly invested in your success. Every class feels organized, supportive, and fun. As someone with ADHD, I find the big screens showing the workouts especially helpful — they make it so much easier to stay focused and confident throughout the session. It’s one of the few gyms where I actually feel seen and supported. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for structure, motivation, and a team that genuinely cares about you!

24 Hour Fitness

Stan Alachniewicz Older gym, but decent. Its honestly slightly more than 4 stars, but I cant give it 5, because that would be unfair to other gyms that are actually five stars, like the one on Balboa. But this one is definitely serviceable and has a decent amount of equipment and space, although, the space is spread out a bit, but I actually kinda like that. People who complain about dirt at gyms, well... every gym has some level of dirt, especially if its not brand new. So you have to put things in perspective. This one is definitely cleaner than other gyms. Besides, a lot of that has to do with the clientele and not the gym staff itself. They cant clean up constantly after gross gym-goers. People who go to the gym need to respect the gym, clean up after themselves, and rerack their weights!

High Level Boxing & Fitness

Manuel Jimenez I had an amazing time at my first class at High Level Boxing and it was really fun getting to meet the people there were all great and welcoming but also Raul was a great instructor who was patient and encouraging pushing us as a class. He was great to talk to with a lot of experience in boxing and knowledgeable about it really welcoming and professional. Mateo was also great and he great to talk to and really knowledgeable in boxing I had a great time talking to him and everyone else in the gym. The classes were really fun, engaging, and challenging. Note: The classes for Kids/Teenagers Are from 4:30pm-5:15-20pm However Raul typical opens the gym at 4pm incase you wanna warm up before class. The classes are 3 times a week from Monday, Wednesday, and Friday

South Park Fitness

Marcelo Muñoz South Park Fitness is an amazing place to get a workout. The staff, members and overall vibe is friendly and very local! Rob, the owner and all the staff are very knowledgeable on exercises, and always a pleasure to talk to. I’m moving soon and I’m really going to miss this local South Park gem. If you’re in South Park and need a gym, South Park Fitness is the place for you.

Planet Fitness

Alex Clean facility with decent AC and friendly staff. I was last here several months ago and theyve really tidied the place up. The lockers and bathrooms are cleaner and theyve added more and better machines, including a proper double cable machine. This is also the only PF in the county Ive seen with actual barbels and genuine power racks, as opposed to the Smith machines every other location has.

Get Fit on Adams

Jill Bormann Ive been a client since 2015. Working out with Tamara has been the BEST investment Ive ever made for my health and wellbeing. (And I have had other trainers to compare with)! The key *advantage* is that Tamara REALLY "listens" to you. She knows her stuff! She is comprehensive and compassionate! She takes into account ALL aspects of fitness and stays current with the latest science on health, fitness, psychology, biology, etc. I highly recommend her!
