1 /5 Erica Freeze: I walked into this studio ready to sign up today, but was met with one of the most unprofessional and condescending interactions I have ever experienced at a fitness business.
This location has been sending me ads inviting me to take a free class. I’ve been an Orangetheory member in the past, but had to cancel when I lost my job. Now that I can afford it again, I decided to take the free intro class, as I’ve done without issue at other studios.
Instead, the man at the front desk repeatedly told me I wasn’t allowed to take the class due to “policy,” smirking the entire time. I explained that every time I’ve switched studios, the free intro was part of the process. I told him I intended to become a member after class. He refused to be flexible, pretended to call a manager, and even lied by claiming the manager had called me to explain the policy—which never happened. I have proof if they care to ask.
Another staff member admitted she would have waived it, but he overruled her. As I left, frankly embarrassed and insulted, another guest walked in and said, “Wow, that guy was rude.” They offered me nothing to make the situation right. The guy at the front desk seems like the type of person who just gets off on power trips- it really unsettled me.
Point Loma’s location has never treated customers this way. This studio is right down the road from my home, but after being mocked and dismissed, I won’t be joining here. If this location truly valued customers over rigid, inconsistent policies, they’d address this behavior immediately. Until then, they’ve lost my business and my trust.
