1 /5 Hylda Salazar: I was a member of Hardcore Fitness for five years, and while I had a great experience with the trainers and made long-lasting friendships, my cancellation experience left me with such a bad taste that I can’t recommend this gym anymore.
When I tried to cancel, the owner tried to guilt me into paying for another month of a service I no longer wanted or planned to use. Instead of handling the situation professionally, she portrayed herself as a victim and even brought up being an immigrant and how people have tried to go against her. As a first-generation woman of color myself, I found that tactic incredibly manipulative. I don’t use my background as an excuse to pressure others, and I don’t think any business owner should either.
The reality is: I simply wanted to cancel without being charged for a service I wasn’t going to use. Instead of respecting that, she made the process difficult and unnecessarily negative.
It’s also worth noting that the gym has had a very high turnover rate with trainers and staff. Almost everyone I originally worked with is now gone, and many of my friends who used to go here have also left because of the constant changes.
I stayed as long as I did because of the community and trainers—not because of the owner. Unfortunately, it’s her attitude and approach to customer service that ultimately ruined the experience for me.
If you’re considering this gym, please take into account not just the workouts but also the way the business is run. For me, the end of my membership completely soured what should have been a simple and respectful process.
