lakshay bhandari It’s a great gym with great coaching experience. I signed up for their 6 week trial and my experience was amazing! The coaches and other staff are personable and make it very easy for you to get on with their program. Very carefully coached and curated workouts, targeting total body fitness and a myth buster for me who thought working out everyday was a necessity. Their workouts are efficient, explosive and definitely made me feel stronger ( I went from 60 lbs squats to 100+ lbs in the span of 6 weeks ) In addition, their nutrition coaching was spot on, which really helped me in general to understand my food intake corresponding to my fitness goals! 100% recommend.

Phit Pro Gym

Susan Ryza Have been working out weekly with Paul at Phit Pro for almost a year & I’m really enjoying my experience. The gym is clean and comfortable, trainers are extremely friendly, has a local feel, equipped with everything I need to get a great workout & feeling benefits from my training. Plus, training with Paul is fun - I’m not sure how but I suffer & enjoy my workouts simultaneously. I’m so happy I found Phit Pro and highly recommend it!

Mayly Tao Dean is one of the best Muay Thai instructors in the area. Whether you are trying to build a skill, develop self-defense, or get a good workout in, his charismatic attitude and dedication to his craft shows in how he coaches his students, of any level. Ive been training with Dean for about 6 months now and Ive learned a lot. Looking forward to training more with him!

SWEAT 60 Personal and Team Training

Megan Pooley Evan at Sweat60 is the best trainer I’ve ever had! His workouts are challenging but still fun and uplifting. He is not only an effective coach and trainer, but he’s a great person. I look forward to our sessions — he is incredibly positive, kind, and motivating. I’ve made so much progress thanks to him!

Fitstop Santa Monica

Helen Menasche Santa Monicas best kept secret. If you asked me 6 months ago that Id go to the gym every day AND enjoy it, Id think you were CRAZY! Before Fitstop, I never lifted a barbell in my life. The atmosphere is so welcoming to all levels, and I cant believe the progress Ive made (with no short cuts). The excellent coaches (S/O to Johnnie and Semaj) make sure you are doing movements the right way to avoid injury but also to make sure to properly strengthen the correct muscles. You rarely work out alone and partners help keep me going. The team/group aspect plus the incredible, well-vetted trainers makes this the best gym! It doesnt hurt that the facility is clean and rarely crowded. Two huge bonuses: ▪︎Plenty of free parking in the lot, not street parking! ▪︎Fitstop is on ClassPass.

JOHN REED Fitness

Patrick Martin IMO top gym in Santa Monica - newer weights/equipment than Equinox and a fraction of the cost! Solid array of free weights, machines, and cardio equipment + a CrossFit training space and turf for sled work and an outdoor area to take in some of that SoCal Vitamin D! Staff up front are always helpful and friendly, and the gym is as clean as a whistle. Smoothy bar and DJ are the cherry on top! And of course, like everywhere in Santa Monica, full of fit, beautiful people! Can’t comment on the classes because they’re not my thing but seems like they have a large variety with lots going on everyday. Only gripes: no sauna, could use more intense cardio equipment like a Jacob’s Ladder or curved self powered treadmill (assault style), as well as some of the influencer types seem to leave their weights and mats on the ground and then bounce - come on people!
