5 /5 Daniel Boschee: As someone from a traditional Lutheran background, I love how this congregation integrates both traditional and contemporary worship styles and music. I’ve been a member for a few years and its been such a joy to see this church reaching out to people in all walks of life. They are especially affirming of LGBTQIA+ people, and I truly believe that love for their neighbors is at the core of everything they do.

5 /5 Katie Boschee: I have been loving my time at Good Shepherd. The community is very inclusive and welcoming. Coming from a secular background, I was nervous finding a church that aligned with my liberal values and was welcoming to new comers and this church really exceeded my expectations. I’ve always felt so accepted and love that the LGBTQIA+ acceptance is a core value held at this church. I also love all the events held all year round! Olympia Chamber Orchestra has performed here and it’s amazing seeing such great music ringing in the sanctuary.

We focus on inclusivity of all different backgrounds. We offer both traditional service with beautiful pipe organ accompanied hymnals and fun contemporary service with none other than our very own Good Shepherd band!!

I previously identified as "spiritual but not religious" for a long time, struggling to reconcile the message of Gods love with the discrimination of LGBTQIA+ practiced at many churches. At the Lutheran Church of The Good Shepherd, I have found a church that is welcoming and accepting of ALL. Through church sermons & adult forums, I have learned so much more about HOW to better be accepting of all; knowing what challenges people different from me may have in the world, and what I can do to be more helpful and welcoming. It is a congregation that actively helps and encourages me to think deeply about forgiveness, empathy, mental health, social justice, advocacy, our impacts on the world & environment, and what a positive impact religion can have if its used to love, care for, and serve others. It has a pastoral staff who create amazing, thought provoking sermons which teach and enlighten. A youth program which embraces young children into the congregation, encourages youth to participate in ministries which they care about (like LGBTQIA & social advocacy), hosts youth night activities which my kids will not allow us to miss, and provides messages which have lead to some amazing conversations with my children as they travel along their own spiritual journey.
