1 /5 Erin DeClercque: Be careful or they will steal your child!
I checked my son into the childcare area while I attended church today. The service went on longer than expected because they extended it for people who unexpectedly wanted to get baptized at the end of the afternoon worship. I left slightly early, while the second round of baptism occurred, well after the intended service time. I had my ticket in my hand, with my child’s associated number on it, when I went to get him. When I asked to pick him up and gave his name, I was told, “No,” that I wasn’t allowed to get him because the service wasn’t over, that I was interrupting the “learning,” and that I couldn’t get my child from them. I was told I needed to leave and wait for the service to end before I could have my child back.
Fear rushed over me when I was told I couldn’t remove my son from their care.
After several rounds of arguing, with a power and ego tripping teenager, I was finally told that I could get my child. I’m flabbergasted that they think they have the right to withhold my child from me. This experience has left a bad taste in my mouth, and my trust is broken.
