5 /5 Andres del Rio: Hectic playground. Would be in my top 5. Big. All sand based. Lots of buckets on chains for sand play. Water pump see saw. Plenty of bigger climbing. Ages 2 to 10. Not fenced off. Some shade

5 /5 Sean Nairn: Great playground area located just behind the beach. Plenty of activities for kids to exhaust themselves on, and if they still have energy take them for a walk out past the container terminal to ensure they’ll sleep well that night. No nearby food or drink spots, you’ll need to go back to Port Melbourne where there’s plenty of options.

4 /5 sventek: Something different for the kids, an all sand playground with many different types of fastened scoops and pulleys for sand pour and transport play. Most of the sand is of the larger rough variety. Large slide and other climb play available. Decent shading in the afternoon of spring, with decent wind blocking. Water play available too but some pumps required some strength i.e. adult help required. Beach is right next to it, but it was very windy and quite littered when visited. Toilets available short walk away. Free parking available.

5 /5 Z L: This playground in Port Melbourne is (literally) a hidden gem. Reminiscent of an abandoned shipyard, the playground is an easy 20 minutes walk from the tram station and Station Pier. Best time to visit is late afternoon for the stunning sunset.
