1 /5 Vira Kostiha: Please, read all the negative reviews before coming to this place!
This is a heartbreaking story. Me and my husband have been taking vehicles here for years(we buy used with no payments and have gone through about 5 vehicles). Every summer it seems our A/C goes out. We have already sent 2 vehicles there for A/C problems and they were fixed (although 1 cost over $2700 in repairs and the other we had to send back for another repair after the first did not fix the problem).

So when the A/C went out this year we sent it in for a diagnostic. The next morning my husband said “watch, they’re going to call and want to replace the compressor and charge us $2K”. He was not far off. They called, suggested the compressor be changed at $1500+ expense (not including diagnostic).

My husband got suspicious and asked where the leak was. To their credit, they did show a picture of the dye from the dye test, but could not tell us where the leak was. I also got suspicious, wanted a second opinion, and called another place. Without telling the second place what the issue was, we dropped off the Explorer.
The next morning, the NEW mechanic called and said it was ready. He had diagnosed and fixed the issue the first afternoon, and kept it overnight to make sure it was holding well and there were no other issues. THE PROBLEM: A gasket needed replaced. The NEW mechanic charged us $100 and sent us on our way blowing 50* air. The NEW mechanic had diagnosed and fixed the problem for less than Christian Brothers charged for the diagnostic.
I was warned in the past by my car dealer not to go to Christian Brothers, BUT they seem so professional, welcoming, and clean. We had spent thousands of dollars over the last 3 years, trusted them, recommended them to friends and family (who also spent a lot there). Now I am finally reading the bad reviews and they are spot on. Now I wonder how many thousands of dollars I have overpaid or outright wasted replacing parts that did not need replaced.
I have been stewing on this for days. I did not see the warning signs last year when they replaced a bunch of parts in my other A/C, only for the problem to be a cheap sensor. My husband had to point it out to them as my husband had deduced the problem better than their equipment and was right!
Old school mechanics are the best. Oil stains on the floor, oil smell in the air, carburetor cap in the office as an ash tray, great prices, great service, and a man behind the counter who’s business is dependent on your trust in him.
I am not coming back to CB again. TRUST YOUR GUT and pay for a SECOND OPINION, especially if the prices or repairs seem a little extravagant.
