Upstate Golisano Childrens Hospital - Syracuse (NY)

4 /5 Kay: I spent a week at the hospital while my son was being treated. One of those nights being in the ER. Staff is absolutely wonderful here. Theyre so helpful and youd be surprised by how many things they have access to to help. I came into the ER with my son for respiratory distress so it didnt bring my pump. Being a breastfeeding mom not only did they provide me with three meals a day but they also provided me with a pump to use in my room. It stayed with me and they stored any breast milk that I bagged. My room had its own bathroom and shower. No shower curtain just kind of weird and the water pressure sucked but hey its a shower. So I was grateful. I took a picture of the sink thats in my room as well. Its rather large and made it really helpful when it came to washing all of the bottles and pump items. They even provided me with a bottle brush and dish soap. There is a PS4 in the room. I tried turning it on once but couldnt figure out how to get the TV to switch over to it so it didnt really mess with it. Food here is what you would expect from hospital. There are some good options though and they tried to be very accommodating to my Dairy allergy. First night here we spent in the ER. Got to the hospital at about 9:00 a.m. and didnt get a room until the next day around noon. We were in a shared room and even though I was here with my 3-month-old they put him in a regular bed. I had to pay to nurse when I wanted to use the restroom because I was so worried hed move and fall out. Even with the railings its very nerve-racking. The room was really small and cramped and it was shared with another family. There was nowhere for me to sleep. Just a small little chair that didnt have arms. And if I wanted to sit in it I was next to the sink. But at the time I know the hospital was packer and i did find myself grateful to at least be in a room. If you are there for your very little babies I recommend getting some links. I brought them and was able to clip them to the crib and it helped him a lot.

5 /5 Robin Eychner: We just ended a 3 day stay at Golisanos. I cant express enough my appreciation for each and every member of the staff here. They made such an incredible impact on my son. What was a very traumatic time for him, the nursing staff gave him such incredible care. He hugged a few of them as he was discharged. There were so many incredible people that we met , it was hard to comprehend all their names but Nicki, Brittany, Steeve, Lou , and Maggie you are a true asset to this hospital. Not to mention the hospital itself in incredible. The resource center really brightened his day. The New Years Party that you held for the children and their families, is just incredible. Thank you for all that you do! Thank you for what you did for my family and making a stressful time , not so stressful!!

5 /5 Nova TheRobot: The nurses and doctors were absolutely amazing despite being overworked, and understaffed. We arrived at the ER at 5:30 and got into a room around 10 or 11…. We ended up being admitted and stayed in the same shared room until we were discharged until 2pm the next day. My baby was treated with so much love and respect, and most of the day time doctors and nurses we re so fun and kind, and the night time nurses and doctors were very kind, helpful and respectful. My only problem with this place is that, if they’re going to use what seem like triage rooms for multiple patients at a time they should definitely have more than thin paper-like partitions. Or at least have more than two or three panels to separate families because I felt like both my family and the others that were placed in this room (two different families at different times, and the room was THOROUGHLY cleaned in between) didn’t have much privacy. I’m a breastfeeding mom and would have appreciated being able to carry-nurse my baby without a man and his son watching me or feeling awkward by it.

5 /5 Brianna Murray: Everyone in the ER was so attentive and kind, and provided great care for our little one. The only downside is you have to go through the adult ER first to access- hopefully they’ll get a designated entrance at some point.
