1 /5 BU2 Pringle, T: Ive been wanting to get closer to god and faith again lately in my life. I was walking back from the store and decide i would try to stop in because it seemed as if their doors was open. To make sure I wasnt intruding on a special gathering or meeting, i tried to approach one of the members of the church to ask a few questions about the church. I thought I would be greeted nicely and they would be able to assist in learning and gaining information about their church and services or at least point me to the right person. I asked politely "excuse me miss, may I ask a few questions about your church". She proceeds to say no and wave me off. I... Being confused.. Made sure to ask again, because i thought people were supposed to welcome new members/potential followers into the church. You know... Spread the word and love of God. So i proceeded to ask" I cant ask a few questions about the church". This individual wouldnt even look my way. Wouldnt stop walking to respond, and once again proceeded to say no and waved me off. Flabbergasted by the rude behavior, i decided to walk into the church.. Tell them about my experience, and hopefully talk to someone who could help. I was approached by a older gentleman. I tried to explain, after years of the military and wanting to get married soon and find god... That i wanted to work on getting baptized and participate in church services. I was told I would be reached out to with more details and he took my name and number. No ones ever called. No one reached out, and till this day Im so in disbelief of how unwelcoming they came off. Im sure not everyone in this church is this way. But i cant believe that a church who is supposed to want to teach the word of god has individuals that would just tell you blatantly that you cant ask questions about their church. That theyll wave you off and not even look your way. Thats extremely rude. And after that, when I try to discuss what the member did and try to remain positive. Im told by a staff member theyll reach out to me, and NEVER DID!!!! I cant believe that a church organization can have individuals who behave so rudely and seem to not want to welcome new members. Ive had bad experiences with churches. So usually i just practice my faith at home. But it doesnt help motivational wise to try to go out of your way to ask for help in assistance on where to start in your path to baptism and people just dont take you serious. You should want people to practice your faith. You should be happy and proud to spread the word, and if you wasnt having a good day. You can still stop. Look the person in the face respectfully. And say, Im sorry... I might not be able to assist you very well, but if you follow me in i can point you in the right direction. Being polite is free. Doesnt cost anything.
