1 /5 e m: I will never recommend this shop. They replaced my engine, I provided the engine. they did NOT use the NEW oil pan gasket that I provided, they only used RTV gasket sealant. When I started the vehicle it made a terrible sound. The "second in command" came out and said oh it sounds like it needs power steering fluid. He must have put a gallon in there, then he said oh we didnt test drive it because your tags were expired. Thats a lame excuse you can test drive a car on a side street, you could have called the owner and said we need the sticker ...I actually HAD the sticker at my house. What kind of mechanic replaces an engine and does not test drive your car?
They did not fill the power steering fluid. They broke one of the windshield wiper nozzles. When I pointed this out they said oh it had dry rot. Yeah well everything was whole when I brought you the truck so you need to replace it.
Later I brought it to Firestone for a complete check, I was told that the oil pan was leaking and the throttle position sensor had burnt wires. When I got underneath to investigate, I moved the position sensor , and one of the three wires broke . you cant drive a vehicle without that connection. I went to talk to the owner and was trying to show him a picture of the sensor and he said dont show me any pictures drive it in here and well look at it . This was the owner and he was loud and rude . cant drive it if that connection is not there so I ended up fixing it myself by buying a connection and splicing it in. Then I did bring it in and the second in command asked me to leave it there...ummm NO, I prefer not to I would like you to fix it now. So he tightened up the bolts but only because his boss was coming in and he didnt want him to see that. Later I replace the entire throttle position sensor with a new one and I discovered that they had already removed it while installing the new oil pan (which I also provided) applied that same crappy RTV gasket sealer to avoid buying a new one (or calling me about it. ) They had to have removed it because they installed a new oil pan on the used engine. What kind of mechanic sees a part thats obviously damaged and does not call the customer and say hey I recommend that you change this why dont you pay for a new one or pick one up and bring it here?
... in fact when I was discussing it with the owner he said ... look you paid us to put an engine in we put it in and it worked . thats it . we gave it back. You couldnt get anyone in this town to put that engine in for what we charged you you should just be grateful.
This is a crap shop and I dont think anybody supervised the installation of my engine. Or double-checked anything. I will never recommend them.
