2 /5 Katherine Katafias: Ive worked out at a variety of gyms over the past 8-10 years and MFC is NOTHING special. Let me start with the positives and why Im even giving it 2 stars.
1. It has the ability to be a 24 hour facility. You have to pay an additional fee in order to access this. When you come outside of regular business hours the lights are all on a very limited timer and there is no air movement because its turned off.
2. The bumper plates in the brick room.
Now for the negatives.
1. Its overpriced for a small town gym. Youre paying the same fees that you would if you were at a big globo gym.
2. The trainers are the WORST. Seeing some of the things they put their clients through are cringeworthy. There is one in particular who never cleans up after herself and leaves her weights out everywhere when shes training for herself or her clients. She also has no respect for working space of others in the gym.
3. This past Sunday one of the older members was just walking around barefoot throughout the gym and propping his feet up while watching F1 in-between his "workout". It was DISGUSTING. There is signage against this and yet...it was allowed.
4. The layout and maintenance is awful. There are machines that are hard to access because the layout is so poor. Machines have duct tape keeping them together and much of the equipment is not well maintained.
5. There are signs EVERYWHERE about cleaning up after yourself, but there is no actual regulation of these rules (obviously, since the trainers dont even follow it).
6. The gym lacks air movement, especially in the brick room. When asked if a fan could be installed, we were told that there were some members who "didnt like the air movement" So instead of installing a fan that can be turned on/off as needed, there is no option at all.
In a small town with limited options, its better than Uptown or nothing at all, but it is NOT all its made out to be by some of these other reviews. For individuals who know nothing else, Im sure its decent. For those of us who have been able to access other facilities for the same price (or cheaper), a 2/5 star is very fair.
