1 /5 John Mcginley: I had a very disappointing and costly experience with Peoples Precision Repair when I brought in my truck for a non-working A/C system.
They started with a $400 diagnostic, concluding that the evaporator was the problem. Since that required dash removal, I approved the work. After disassembling part of the dashboard and inspecting the evaporator, they determined the evaporator wasn’t the issue after all — bringing the cost up to an additional $700.
Next, they claimed their initial dye test wasn’t sensitive enough and needed to perform a nitrogen leak test. That test led them to say the issue was leaking A/C connections, they replaced thus pushing the bill to $1,900 total.
Just a week later, I returned because the A/C was hissing and still not working properly. After yet another diagnostic, I was told the problem was now the compressor — requiring another $1,500 repair.
In total, I’ve spent $3,400 on a repair that, with accurate diagnosis from the start, should have cost half that. This shop either lacks the capability to perform proper root cause analysis or is irresponsibly cycling through expensive guesses — at the customers expense. Whether due to incompetence or something worse, I cannot recommend Peoples Precision Repair. Proceed with caution, especially for diagnostics or major repairs.
