1 /5 No Name: Chantilly. This review is only for the nurse named Chantilly who works at this facility.
It was my first appointment with new ENT specialist. Waited months for appointment. Specialist got called to hospital for surgery. Chantilly offers me two appointments that do not work with my schedule. She then says flatly, "Well, the next appointment is going to be pushed out a while then."
I said that was unacceptable, I had already waited months for this appointment.
She tried to guilt trip me and said incredulously, "Hes across the street controlling a bleed!"
I said I understood that, but there should be some accommodation made to get me in to be seen since my appointment, which I waited months for, now has to be canceled because he is across the street. And its unacceptable to ask me to wait months again for another appointment.
She said rudely, "You can wait for him to come back from surgery or those are your two options, or youll have to schedule out."
I reiterated that those times didnt work for me, I wasnt going to wait around indefinitely, and that it wasnt acceptable that I would have to wait months again for a re-do appointment.
She screamed back at me that those were the two appointments, sneered at me that I was being rude (I interjected, in disbelief, asking her how she could be calling ME rude in this interaction), and said I needed to go to the front desk to figure it out.
I asked for her name as she was leaving. She screamed it at me, "CHANTILLY!" and waved her badge in my face, and then ran as quickly as she could down the hall into a staff-only doorway. I talked with the clinic manager about her behavior following this and initiated complaints.
This behavior is completely unacceptable, from a professional nurse at a major hospital system, but even on a human-to-human level. I am having to put off additional medical care for a painful rheumatic spinal disease until after I can talk to the new ENT doctor about the potential surgery that I need. This appointment was very important. Even if I had just come in for minor allergy concerns, I should not have been talked to the way Chantilly talked to me. Its completely unacceptable behavior. Chantilly is being paid to do a job. I am a patient, suffering with illness and pain, and she was not only dismissive but aggressively rude. I deserve an apology. And Chantilly should be required to complete some patient relations workshops.
Chantilly should reflect on whether this is the appropriate job for her temperament.
Chantilly may have been having a rough day, but so was I, and I was in the position of being the sick, and she was in the position of being the help. Chantilly is paid for her part in our interaction, I lost money in gas and got yelled at by an emotionally unstable nurse named Chantilly.
Every time I have a bad experience, I am writing a review on it. This kind of stuff happens far too often. It is abhorrent. It needs to be taken more seriously. If you have a colleague like Chantilly, please do your part in advocating for your patients.
Do better.
