2 /5 Dusty DuBois: We recently stayed at Clearwater Casino Resort and unfortunately our experience did not meet expectations, especially given the price point of over $400 per night for a water-view room.
At check-in, we were required to put down an extra $50 for “incidentals” in case we wanted to charge items to our room. However, we quickly discovered that nothing could actually be charged to the room. There were no provisions in the room—no snacks, wine, or soft drinks—and we were told to purchase those at the gift shop, which also did not allow room charges. At the MMA event we attended, drinks were cash only. Even breakfast the morning of checkout could not be charged to the room. This made the incidental fee pointless and misleading.
Service and hospitality were also disappointing. When I asked an associate in the tower about open bars or restaurants, she seemed confused by the question. Most staff appeared poorly trained and unprepared for basic hospitality service. In the morning, while guests were trying to enjoy coffee around 7:30 AM, the lobby was being vacuumed—something that should have been handled the night before. Breakfast service was slow, and the food was substandard.
Additionally, during our stay, a private wedding party occupied much of the lobby and outdoor space, including their own bar, making it difficult for other paying guests to enjoy the grounds and views of the water. With no room service and limited access to common areas, the “resort” experience fell flat.
Overall, for the price, Clearwater Casino Resort does not provide the level of comfort, amenities, or hospitality one would expect. Guests should be aware that room charges are essentially non-existent, provisions are lacking, and service is inconsistent at best.
