5 /5 Sean Nairn: Former WW2 cruiser that is moored at Gem Pier in Melbourne’s suburb of Williamstown. The ship is open for tours - check website for details. As I was there in the evening I could only see the exterior but would return for a daylight visit. Plenty of nearby food and drink options, it’s about 10 minutes walk to the train station.

5 /5 Enrico Chaffey: I love military equipment and vehicles This is a very well preserved WW2 named HMAS CASTLEMAINE corvette/mine sweeper and is so awesome it’s so cool to see up close a piece of history I really enjoyed looking at this ship best day ever 10/10 my favourite ship is the HMAS Castlemaine

5 /5 Andrew Guy: HMAS Castlemaine is fantastic - the vessel is beautifully restored and maintained, and houses an engaging museum with splendid ship models. Highlight for me is the engine room with triple-expansion steam engines in marvellous condition and able to turn as a demonstration. The volunteers were wonderfully friendly and eager to share information, such as the fascinating minesweeping process. Kids generally delighted. We spent 1.5hrs, so the free 2hr parking spots off the main street are adequate. Train station is walking distance.

5 /5 Tony B: This magnificent Corvette class WW2 ship is well worth a visit. The volunteers are highly knowledgeable and friendly. Make sure you check out the engine room (you’ll need to be accompanied by one of the volunteers)

L.A. Parker Reserve - Williamstown

Debi Slinger Stunning park located near the water. I love how people plan and create something that they’ll never see come to fruition. A beautiful open park that abutts the botanic gardens.There are a few trails, variety of plants and trees and plenty of grassy areas. Gorgeous spot to lie on the grass and soak up the atmosphere. Being autumn. Some trees were amazing. Popular for wedding photographs. Most pleased that it was virtually rubbish free, graffiti free and well cared for. Notes: toilets nearby. Plenty of picnic tables and benches to sit on. Parking is good but not free. Dogs allowed on leash.
