1 /5 krystal Velez: I have had the absolute worst experience with Methodist Ambulatory Surgery Center-Medical Center. Last July 2023 I had to go in for a very traumatic procedure. The day before the surgery, I was quoted with the cost of the surgery. I was told that I had met my deductible and was only responsible for a specific amount (which was still quite a bit for me at the time but was willing to pay it off). The day of the surgery I was provided with a receipt, and set up a payment plan to have it paid off within the next 6 months. I have the receipts!
I received a call in November 2023 stating that I was responsible for an additional $1200, which was not what I was quoted the day of the appointment. I tried pleading with them because that is not something I can afford, but they were not helpful. I submitted an appeal with my insurance company due to the false/lack of information I was provided with the day of the surgery. I was denied. I am at a loss. I would have never even gone through with the surgery had I known it was going to be that expensive. It has me feeling very paranoid each time I go to the doctor, wondering if I am being quoted the right amount. It also has me not wanting to reach out for assistance, which is upsetting because no one should feel this way.
I have all the proof in the world that I was quoted a certain amount, yet no one seems to want to help. This is ridiculous. The hospital staff is not owning up to their mistake and I am not sure what to do anymore. This is not right.
