St. Marys Roman Catholic Church - albany - Albany (NY)

5 /5 Dakota: This site of the present church was founded by Isaac Jogues, a prisoner of the Kanien’keha:ka, by creeping away from his captors at the Dutch barn which stood by the present church. St. Mary’s parish is the second oldest in New York State, being founded in 1796. St. Mary’s is preceded only by St Peter’s on Barclays Street in Manhattan which was founded in 1786.

5 /5 Desiree Ghisolfi: My husband and I were married here in May by Deacon Walter. Even though my husband is Jewish, Deacon Walter could not have been more welcoming and offered to put us in touch with a rabbi so we could have an interfaith service. We opted with a fully Catholic ceremony, as I am much more religious, but just to have that level of acceptance and welcoming is rare and so very much needed in the Catholic Church. Highly recommend, and as you can see, it is a gorgeous church!

5 /5 Walter Cocco: Ash Wednesday mass was over. The father still blessed and gave me ashes 20 minutes after mass and told me what to read from the mass book for the day that was in the pew. Also I found a pocketbook left from someone who came to the mass earlier and he took it away to secure it. I witnessed the blessing 2 other people that came in while I was reading the mass. Thank you God and thank you to the church.

5 /5 Gui Su: We visited this Church on October 2021 after visiting The First Church of Albany we decided to take a look at this Church and we thought the inside was amazing with nice paintings and decorations. Easy walk if you are staying in the downtown area where all the action takes places.

5 /5 Marc Ness: Quite stunning interior. Was there for a wedding, and my antenna for the spiritual signals has never worked. The wedding ceremony comported well with my memories from Catholic school.
