2 /5 Jarisa M.: Ok so possible serious dental negligence…. I have ALWAYS gone to this place since little and have had the same doctor (Dr. Alex) for years. Even some of the women dentists/assistants know and always recognize me since they saw me and my sister grow up going there. YET TODAY UPON SEEING A NEW DENTIST FOR THE 1ST TIME (couldn’t continue at general dental because they don’t accept my new insurance), THE NEW DENTIST IMMEDIATELY NOTICED not 1 or 2 but FOURRR cavities and 1 of them requiring a root canal due to how bad it is !!!!! It is near a nerve (I was not only told all this but shown it on my X-rays as I was being told). I find it very unlikely that I got all those cavities, especially the one that’s pretty bad, in just a year or less since my last dental cleaning !! So I now feel that Dr. Alex (and anyone else at general dental who does patient X-rays or etc.) were willfully and knowingly NEGLECTFUL about my dental health ! It is absolutely bizarre to me to have had this experience today at the new dental place because it was noticed immediately by the lady upon taking her first look at my X-rays. She was even taken aback. I mean, literally 4 visible cavities & one of them needing root canal (i’m 26 btw, don’t know if that makes it more alarming or not). I was also always told by Dr. Alex and other staff at general dental that helped the doc with cleaning & things of that sort - that my teeth, X-rays, and oral health were great and all fine. I’ve even had fillings before for prior cavities at general dental when much younger, so the entire situation is just crazy to me. And today’s doctor, after seeing the cavities in my X-rays, confirmed them VISUALLY by taking 1 look into my mouth with the little metal mirror thing they use to see your top teeth. Again, it is just something I find very unlikely to have come about in a year or less after seen for years at a same place by the same doctor and being continuously validated in the state of my oral health / appearance !! In addition, my last visit to general dental before having to find a new dental office was one in which they completely wasted my time in the sense that I confirmed over call that they take Medicaid yet upon arriving they apparently only take strict Medicaid and not the kind that is under any plan…. Like, why not specify that if u know there are multiple kinds of Medicaid?! Why just generally answer YES when asked about Medicaid ? So, yea there’s that…. And in regards to the attitude by reception, I have seen it. I never had to deal with them much to have had much of a personal experience with it but it is definitely something you can witness there. The girl who when I last went broke news to me they don’t accept my new insurance, she had a little bit of an attitude as if I was supposed to magically know and assume that they only take Medicaid strict… and when I mentioned that over call they confirmed they do take Medicaid THAT’s when she specified they take only strict Medicaid. Before that she just had this face of disbelief upon me giving her my insurance card lol. She also seemed to generally not even know that strict Medicaid isn’t the only kind of Medicaid, based on her whole reaction of my insurance card representing my specific PLAN w/ Medicaid (anthem Blue cross blue shield) yet me saying it’s Medicaid. She ultimately had to check with her (I’m guessing more experienced) receptionist colleague, PLUS they both checked with the doctor, before confirming to me they don’t take my new insurance. I feel like being a receptionist for any medical office requires pretty solid knowledge of insurances and those kinds of things. That’s all for my review… so disappointed about having these 4 cavities/ 1 root canal to deal with now tho.
