Nina Dees I’ve been a local regular for a year, and always have an amazing experience at this hair salon! I’ve lived in 3 states so far and Fatima has been my best hair stylist ever! I have very long brunette hair that I regularly get dyed red, no easy feat, and it always comes out fabulous. The staff are talented artists, they’re so kind, and I feel like Fatima can read my mind when it comes to my hair goals. Bleaching, hair dye, hair butter, cut, blow dry, shine spray, and a couple cheeky glasses of wine, about 3 hours and a little over $300. Great prices for phenomenal results. I’ll only let Fatima touch my hair as long as I live in NYC.

I explained the kind of cut I wanted and then she went to work. At the end, I was pleasantly surprised. It was by far the best haircut I’ve ever had! As we all know, especially those of us that color our hair, finding a good salon and a good stylist can be quite a journey. I had been to several other salons in the neighborhood and some I would stay at for a few months, but then something would happen that would cause me to look elsewhere. I came in on a Sunday and Giuseppe was my stylist. I said to him only a few simple things - half head of highlights and blended and he went to work. i dont know how he did it or if he is a psychic, but it was like he read my mind and gave me exactly what I wanted and I AM THRILLED. I feel like only really good and amazing stylists can take a little information and make it amazing. He also has such a strong passion for hair coloring and the art of it. He thoroughly enjoys his work and making people happy by giving them exactly what they want and you can tell as it was very much reflected in his work and personality. Also the Living room hair salon is HUGE and just beautiful! I dont think I have been to a salon that clean, organized and spacious since I lived in California! Seriously - if you want a wonderful experience with wonderful stylists - look no further as The Living Room Hair Salon is IT.

Chris Lesko I have going to Living Room Salon for close to two years and Giuseppe has been highlighting and cutting my hair to perfection each time I visit. He is a master of color and I dont think my hair has looked better in years. I highly recommend Giuseppe and Living Room Salon. You will not be disappointed.

Jane Moseley I walked into The Living Room Salon on the recommendation of a friend. I had gotten my hair colored in The Cayman Islands, where I now live, and I was NOT happy. Sitting at the front desk was Shane, who lovingly took one look at me and said, “color correction? It’s definitely…red. And stripey.” He recommended Daniela and he couldn’t have been more right. Daniela is an absolute artist. She took the correction process one step at a time and literally had her hands in my hair for the entire 4 hours I was at the salon; I have never had a more attentive stylist, let alone one as knowledgeable about color or as brilliant with color techniques, highlight placement and color correction - all while maintaining the integrity of my hair! Daniela also instinctively knew that part of my problem was the cut I had, so she finished by giving me a haircut that not only accentuated by brilliantly transformed color, but somehow made my hair seem longer! Daniela made me feel confident and good about myself again. What more could you ask for from a stylist? She is a true gem on the UES! I will no longer trust my hair to anyone but Daniela and will schedule my visits back to nyc from Grand Cayman to coincide with my need for color touch-ups.

Olga Stamatova Saw Jordan for my hair color & Ziyu for style & blowout - WOW WOW WOW - what a pair of amazing hair stylists! Highly recommend these 2 and the entire salon! Jordan absolutely nailed my dream color and was super attentive, explained the process, spent the time listening to me.... At no point did I have any doubts my hair will come out looking fabulous! Ziyu also somehow just knew what I secretly wanted in a haircut but could not articulate well. Hair is just the right length, bangs frame my face really nice - just super happy. Very friendly staff, attentive and was easy to work with when making an appointment. Will be back!

This is the first haircut that I’ve ever been completely happy about in all my years of asking for “long layers” from dozens of hair stylists in the NYC area who could never bring my vision to life. I arrived a few mins early and was kindly asked to relax and have a seat, and I realized that I forgot my wallet and a very nice man, possibly an owner said you have Apple Pay, don’t worry! It is clean, busy, pleasant and i got an outstanding wash and blow dry from April on very short notice. I will go back whenever i am in new york. I have had a Sassoon "bob" cut for a very long time and she recognized it as a classic precision style so i would not hesitate to have a cut there too.

Vincent M 2nd time going here and was absolutely AMAZED with the results. Ordered a cut and Digital Perm with Celine and wasn’t disappointed in the slightest! Celine was very nice, professional, and informative with my hair, especially letting me know that a digital perm wasn’t necessary and instead helped me with a down perm and charged me with that instead! While cost may be a little high, what you’re paying for isn’t necessarily the haircut, but the quality and professionalism that comes with it. the staff here are very courteous and kind! They offer refreshments of your choosing if you are thirsty and also sell hair products that will help maintain the longevity of the haircut you got! If you have a hairstyle in mind, make sure to have reference photos/videos so that the stylists may help you achieve your desired hair style! TL;DR - An amazing place with amazing hairstylist and staff! While expensive, it’s worth the cost. 10/10 and make sure you book with CELINE! Shes absolutely wonderful! Can’t wait to go again!

Mari Lee Absolute worst and choppiest haircut I’ve ever received. I should’ve left as soon as she started taking halves of my hair instead of smaller sections. She kept dropping the comb and tool on the floor. Seemed like she was lost. I tried asking the other hairdressers if what she was doing was part of the process, but they pretended they didn’t speak English or Korean and didn’t defend her either. Go to On Session nearby. Your money is better spent there.

I had long hair with damaged ends, so I decided to do get layers to make my hair look cleaner and lighter. Remembering depends on what kind of service you get and how long you’d be spending time there. It shows how much the business care for your experience. I booked a root perm today by Megan. She is a hair magician. After witnessing how much work her and the nice assistant put today, the service consider very quick. I started at 11am and finished by 2:30ish pm. That is a lot of time for one service. But I could tell how much she’s passionate about what she does and she listened what I really need. So thank you Megan and her nice assistant, I forgot her name. She made sure I am comfortable during the process. Just go! You’ll thank me.

LoMo Phillips So glad I found my curly hair salon in NYC! The salon was clean, chill, and large. Marianna did a fantastic job with my hair and took the time to give lots of tips on how I could style it better. She did the PERFECT hair cut - did away with the split ends, but still kept the length. I felt very well taken care of, and while a bit more pricey, I think it was well worth it given the entire experience. Will definitely be keeping Christo as my go-to salon!

Tal Cohen I am very hesitant when going to new hair salons but I when googling different places I found Christo 5th Ave and after seeing all the glowing reviews constantly mentioning Igor, I decided to impulsively book my appointment. I am so happy I did. I don’t have a Before photo of my hair but the after speaks for itself. He cut my layers super naturally and still kept my hair long, which other stylists I have been to in the past have always struggled to do. He was also super helpful and patient and made sure to ask me what issues I had and wanted to fix with my hair. I love how he made my hair just look better and feel healthier. Jason Tom Danny did an amazing job. Got a haircut and perm. Told me he’d keep the length, trim down some of the weight and layer the hair, and then perm it. We went with a bit tighter curl because I’m an active guy and want to keep the perm a bit longer through more sweat and movement. Very attentive, helpful and knowledgeable and answered all my questions during the process. Recommend for any Asian male with medium length hair getting a perm!!

Dana Lee Ian is absolutely the best hair designer in NYC!! Worth every penny! Me and my husband used to go Mason de Mi for Ian for a long time but we moved out from NYC couple years ago. We missed him so much as there is no better hair designers than him in other parts of US. My and my son just did my haircuts with Ian and left the salon now. Stephanie Wang The salon itself is clean, bright, and airy. It’s super easy to find. All of the staff are super friendly from the moment you walk in the door! I had an appointment with Halley for a layered haircut and color/highlights. She did an amazing job giving me what I requested! She works very fast so it only took about 3 hours total. She listens well when you want something specific done (eg. I have thick hair and wanted the bulk of my hair thinned in the back; she totally delivered!) Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Wilneida Negron Came in for a color correction with severely dry and bleached out hair. Despite the state of my hair, I was hoping to try a copper color. I booked with Ayca who was patient, thoughtful, and fully understood what I wanted and could be done given the state of my hair. My goodness she exceeded my expectations. She got the exact copper tone I wanted and also conditioned and treated it, so she also repaired for the sad state it was in. Truly masterful work and one of the best hair experiences Ive ever had.

Julia Tetrud I have had trust issues with salons ever since I got bangs my freshman year of high school, but this experience wiped all of that away. I went in with a ton of damage from using box dyes. My hair was this ugly shade of copper and I wanted to get it lightened and blend it in with my natural hair color. Cecy was my hair dresser and was incredibly detailed when it came to figuring out how to not only correct the color, but to highlight and blend everything to match with my roots. Kierstin R. Elisa took incredible care of me and my curls at my first time to this salon!! I went in for a haircut to freshen up my ends and shape my bangs. The shampooing was thorough with much attention to detail on my scalp and helping remove any product buildup. Best. Feeling. Ever. She listened to my requests regarding length and my plans to layer or chop in the warmer months. Since I only use heat on my hair about once a year, I opted for a blowout and left feeling confident. They usually never last, but this one I wore for a week in rainy weather! Combing my fingers through my hair and putting it in a ponytail were so easy.
