1 /5 Feyisayo Ogunyemi: I took my 2017 Nissan Versa to Johnson’s Automotive Service Inc. to have it checked due to front-end wobbling and unusual noise. A few hours later, I received a text message quoting repairs for a new transmission and brake shoes. However, when I asked specifically about the issue with the front suspension, I received no clear explanation—only a vague attribution to transmission problems.
I declined the repair offer and requested to pick up my car. I was then informed that the vehicle had already been jacked up and I would need to return the next day to retrieve it, even though no repairs had been carried out. Additionally, I was charged a $67.46 diagnostic fee, which was never disclosed upfront.
There was no apology or compensation for the inconvenience of not being able to access my car the same day. It felt like a pressure tactic to push customers into accepting expensive repair quotes. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this shop. Clear communication, transparency, and customer respect are essential—and sadly lacking here.
REPLY TO YOUR FALSE RESPONSE.
I respectfully disagree with several of your claims made.
Please be informed that at no point during the initial drop-off or discussion was I verbally informed of a diagnostic fee. If a sign exists in the office, it should be supported by clear communication especially when a customer specifically inquires about the issue and no repairs are agreed upon. Transparency and verbal disclosure are essential, particularly when a customer is leaving their vehicle based on a specific concern—in my case, a wobbling in the front end, not transmission or brake issues.
Also, your claim as regards my arrival is untrue as I got to your office 4:48 pm. You mentioned that I arrived at 5 p.m. when your shop was closed, yet I was not informed ahead of time that my vehicle would be inaccessible after business hours. While I appreciate that you eventually re-checked the suspension after I insisted, the delay and lack of prior clarity around access to my vehicle were frustrating. Also, I did not receive any apology at the time either for the miscommunication or for the inconvenience of needing to return the next day.
Regarding your statement about intimidation, I want to make it clear that at no point did I act inappropriately. I asked reasonable questions about the charge and shared my concerns firmly but respectfully. It is disappointing to see a customer’s concerns dismissed as intimidation simply because they expressed dissatisfaction.
This experience has reinforced the importance of clear, proactive communication and professionalism—qualities that, in my opinion, were lacking during my visit. I paid the diagnostic fee, as I was left with no alternative, but I believe in feedback whether positive or negative should be received constructively, and not defensively.
