5 /5 Todd Daniels: Good church, attended by a lot of very friendly, genuine people. Church programs are usually well organized and staffed by plenty of energetic enthusiastic volunteers. I am disappointed that Santa appeared here from time to time, as I believe Satan has worked us over with the materialism and distraction of Christmas. Jesus told us to remember his death and resurrection, not his birth... And if we are remembering his resurrection in the Easter season, why would we allow a Bunny with eggs to detract from that? Sounds like deception to me, and if you wish to argue, I believe Satan has you believing that theres no harm in distracting from my Saviors sacrifice. I disagree.
We believe that lying is bad. We tell our children not to lie. There is no gray area here. Truth is truth. Santa and the Easter bunny are lies. It bothered me greatly growing up, when I discovered the magnitude of these lies that permeate our society, and even moreso that they are worldly contortions of Christianitys holiest days.
Gray United Methodist certainly meets with the standards and theology of United Methodism, and thats exactly what they advertise to be. The congregation is a wonderful group of people who embody love and generosity. I was christened and raised United Methodist, and have been a member of this church. I just feel called to recognize there are fundamental differences in the United Methodist theology and the calling of Christ.
May God bless You and keep You. Amen
