SJVC Bakersfield - Bakersfield Chris Barr: The place is really nice... The teachers are amazing. I feel like they dont protect the students the way they should. You can get kicked out if a trainer at the Hospital doesnt like you. You can make your trainer mad over anything and they can send you home. If you defend yourself to them they can get you kicked out of the entire program. Even if you spent a year there and spent a lot of money already there. You wont get your money back so dont even try it. I feel like they dont fight enough for you. They just send you packing without a fighting chance. There should be something done about that. Other than that the School is great. I had no issues with any teachers there. I had one issue with a trainer at AH Hospital. They pick on you and you are out. No questions ask. No passing GO and collecting your $200... Good luck and dont stand up for yourself or else.

High Desert Medical College - Bakersfield banana master: Loved the program for medical billing and coding, not so much the externship site they sent me to.. (Absolute Billing Company) The program itself was solid and the instructors were great, but the site? Absolutely toxic. I was spoken to like I was mentally slow, constantly talked down to, and made to feel like a burden for asking questions. Peter was the only decent human being there. Kind, helpful, and actually willing to teach. The rest made me dread showing up every day. They have no problem humiliating their students in front of everyone and gossiping behind their backs. I left my extern emotionally wrecked and genuinely traumatized. If the school actually cares about its students, they’ll highly reconsider sending anyone else there. No one deserves to be disrespected like that in the name of “experience.”

They sell dreams and crush souls. I was depressed after leaving here without my bachelors and over 200k in debt. Everyone has a CAU horror story. Save your self the time and money. There’s better schools out there. Believe me.

Kern Valley Medical College - Bakersfield Elicia Salvador: This is honestly a really good school . The instructors are very helpful and knowledgeable. My phlebotomy instructor is Rosa , she is so patient and always makes sure our class understands what she is teaching us . The program is about 4-5 weeks and it goes by so fast !!!
