Crosswalk Community Church: A Progressive Alternative

Loren Haas My wife and I have been members for 15 years. If you expect church to be narrow minded, legalistic and to worship the Bible you will be surprised that CrossWalk checks none of those boxes. While the oldest Baptist church in Napa, (American Baptist, as in MLKs affiliation) founded in 1860, it is not stuck defending antiquated culture. It is egalitarian with women in pastoral roles, leadership and teaching positions. It is LGBTQ welcoming and fully affirming with members of that community participating in leadership. We also have outstanding teaching from toddlers through Middle School. Pastor Peter Shaws teaching is intellectually challenging but emphasizes spiritual and meditative practices as well. It is a very relaxed, come as you are atmosphere full of real people. People of other faith practices are welcome here. Services at 9 and 10 AM. We believe following Jesus also means serving the community in a sacrificial way. We host 40+ recovery groups on a weekly basis. Our parking lot is almost always busy. We operate a food pantry and supply food and cooking essentials to people moving off the street and into safe housing. We also work with other churches to feed unhoused people in Napa on the weekend. We provide space on our large campus for non-profits such as citizenship clinics and immigration legal aid. Our gym is used by schools, clubs and sports leagues. Crosswalk is the first Emergency shelter to open and the last to close. Fifteen minutes and we can open the doors. During the recent earthquake and fires we housed evacuees and were an information hub. We are currently remodeling our large but antiquated kitchen to modern standards so as to be able to provide meals. The bathrooms and gym showers have been upgraded to ADA standards to better serve everyone. Come experience CrossWalk. Instead of higher walls, we make bigger tables.

Mont La Salle Chapel

Ricardo Rivas My wife and I are celebrating our 39th wedding anniversary and we decided to stay here at Mont La Salle … this has been the best decision we made. This place is amazing and the location cannot be any better … the chapel is beautiful and accessible for praying almost any time you need. The campus has so many wonderful natural places for you to relax and enjoy the evening weather, we had a hard time choosing where to sit and enjoy the moment. As a Deacon, it us very important to me to be in a place where I can connect with our creator and feel that wonderful experience of being in peace as we pray. I strongly recommend for other Catholics to come over and stay for a weekend. You will not regret it. My wife and I are planning to make this an annual trip from Texas for our future anniversaries. Thank you to the staff here at Mont La Salle, Christian Brothers Retreat Center. God Bless you all

Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church

Anna Marie Since Ive been in Napa, this has been the church I chose to go to, coming from Vallejo and being a part of the St. Basil community. This is the only Catholic church Ive attended since moving to Napa. Ive always felt good vibes when entering this church. Ive parked in the front some days feeling some type of way, just wanting to be in the presence of the church. Cant explain it, but it makes me feel good. Their prayer rooms with the statues are beautiful. Since the shelter in place that started due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Ive watched mass online on their social media platform (Facebook). I watched Palm Sunday mass online and was able to drive through their parking lot to place a donation and pick up palm leaves. Then, again, for Easter Sunday, I was able to watch mass on social media, and again, drive through their parking lot to make a donation and received a candle.

Napa Valley Unitarian Universalists

Karen Gross Closed due to COVID 19. Generous-hearted people. If I were a church-goer and lived in Napa, this would be my kind of place. If.

St Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church

Val Perez The Blessed Virgin never committed any actual sin -- not even a venial one. Otherwise, she would not have been a Mother, worthy of Jesus. The Son would have shared the ignominy of the Mother, for He would have had a sinner for His Mother. Saint Thomas Aquinas, Priest and Doctor of the Church (1225-1274 A.D.)
