Carmel Church San Diego

Trent Nadelen Awesome Non-denominational church. Full of Grace and Truth. I am a single dad of three boys under 12 and from the first minute I stepped on their campus their staff was so gracious and helpful. Offering to take my boys to thier area so I could grab a much needed coffee before service. Wendell , the youth pastor, was incredibly hospitable and even followed up with me via text. Jerry the Lead Pastor stopped by to shake my hand and welcome me. Went back a second time and I have been going through some things as we all do. Just when I needed it Veronica came and introduced herself and took me to Associate Pastor Toby who prayed with me on the spot. A man named Mike saw that happening and came right up offering his words and special message he felt lead to give. Words can not express how much I needed that support today. I know where my tithe is going. This church and its members are the real deal. Thank you guys from the bottom of my heart.

Common(s) Church

Dominic Cornell Luminous City Church is unlike any church family I had been a part of! Their culture is so loving and accepting, and they truly love their city. They do monthly I Love My City events around San Diego to spread the love as Jesus would want us to. They talk the talk and walk the walk!

University Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)/United Church of Christ

Susan Bourrillion This is a fabulous church to worship God and learn about Jesus. As Christians we go out into the community to be good people and spread, love, warmth and positivity. It is an LGBTQ open and affirming church. Everyone is welcome here. It’s sad when family members are homophobic . We have never had cheesy drag shows. However, there are some fabulously written and performed acts that take place in October for our Theology of Broadway theme. These services will not disappoint and are beautifully portrayed by the loving congregation members. Never a dull moment and we have a fun and positive approach to our children’s Worship and Wonder as well.

St. Joseph Cathedral

Jefferson Abuan Beautiful church inside and out. Always love seeing another parish and never seen succulents inside of a church before such a nice touch. Without being said one should always get to mass early because parking there might be scarce depending on what time you go. Saint Joseph pray for us.

Ocean View Church

Joseph Griffith I love this church! Its larger than I was used too but they do a wonderful job of providing appropriate community. Pastor Steve is a solid exegetical preacher. The staff is approachable, warm, and caring. Everyone I have met so far is authentic in their pursuit of Christ, losing their lives so they can find their lives, and helping each other on that path. Ocean View is home for me, my wife, and Our kids, and thats an answer to years of prayer!

Park Hill Church

Ché TL;DR this church saved my faith. In 2020, discouraged by the lack of pastors preaching unity from the pulpit in the midst of racial tensions, I left the church altogether. I spent 2021 deconstructing a faith I’d been born into. After realizing that life without God in community is no better, I decided to dip my toe in church life again, and was led to Park Hill. By the grace of God, I entered a community group where the topics I was struggling with were directly addressed, and was even invited into the racial reconciliation cohort. Here, I had a safe space to wrestle through the issues that pushed me away from church in the first place. The lead pastors were even part of that cohort, not to speak and be heard but simply hear what the vulnerable members of their congregation had to say. I can tell you from experience, that this willingness to hear how the Church had done the vulnerable, wrong, is not a commitment I have seen at other places. The leadership leaning in and making change from the pulpit, preaching against division in this country and emphasizing God’s heart for unity through sound scripture, helped heal my heart for the church. I got to know the lead pastors from a few interactions over the years, and I can tell you that their heart is truly burdened for their flock and for sound biblical teaching in an increasingly divided landscape. To those who put down leadership behind the scenes: it’s true, they’re not perfect, and running any size church is hard. To the person who said the pastors walked right past you: have grace. New people come in all the time, and if you introduce yourself they will welcome you warmly. From my experience and that of many I had met there — genuine Christ followers trying to grow and learn and do better — Park Hill fosters environments that challenges us to put our flesh aside and grow as a body. We need more of this now, Christians unafraid to stand on scripture FOR people, not against them, than ever.
