1 /5 brit H: This review is specifically about the Young Adults ministry. I came from Awaken Church, where I always felt welcomed and connected in their young adults group. I recently started attending this church because it’s closer to home, and I was hopeful to get plugged in.
Unfortunately, after attending twice, I’ve felt incredibly unwelcome. The environment feels very cliquey—almost like being back in high school. I even sat with another girl who was alone by the fire pit, and she mentioned feeling the same way.
I later brought it up with some girls at Bible study (who all attend different churches), and four of them said they had tried Skyline’s young adults and felt the exact same way. There’s something off, especially in the way the volunteers engage—or don’t engage—which I believe is contributing to the problem.
This kind of atmosphere can be dangerous, especially for a new or “baby” Christian who’s trying to grow in their faith. Imagine showing up, hoping to connect, and instead being met with coldness or exclusion. That kind of experience can easily lead to church hurt and turn people away from community entirely.
I genuinely believe this church has so much potential, and I’m rooting for you to grow in this area. I hope someone takes a serious look at how your young adults ministry is operating—because it really can be better.
