1 /5 rinzler 2400: Went to get my car checked out after it was making some odd noises, ended up getting a quote for parts and labor of ~14k to fix it, which was still going to use very used parts with zero warranty. Took it to get a second opinion and was able to get the exact same work done WITH OEM, never used parts AND a warranty for 7.5k.
Also, when I got my car back from them they had managed to mar significant portions of the leather and cloth in my interior with what looks like flat tip screwdrivers and pliers, and broke my shifter assembly, all while trying to claim that the car arrived like that.
I had driven the car the day previous, I can confidently say the internals of my shifter were not sheared in half from someone torqueing the shift knob as hard as they could and ruining the leather on it when I was driving it. Going off of the metal tooth marks on the outside and the damage inside, Its extremely clear that someone couldnt figure out how to operate the shifter so they used a tool of some kind to try to tighten it to the point of where they sheared the plastic internals. After taking it to two other mechanics and letting them independently investigate it, they both came to the same conclusion without me ever saying the idea out loud. Take it how you will.
To top it off, when I went to go pickup it up, I went to my car in their lot (without my key, they had it) and went to open the door to get some things out of my car (forgetting that I didnt have my key) and it turned out that my car had just been unlocked in their parking lot for who knows how long WITH the key still in the ignition, causing the battery to die...
What was strange though is that the two individuals who I talked with at the shop were extremely nice, seemed well informed, and gave me updates about the vehicle as it was evaluated. They seemed like they were doing a genuinely decent job, short of the quotes that I was given (which may have come from a finance department, Im unsure. They either came up with the quotes or just relayed them to me.)
I dont know if the individuals who were working on my car were new employees, incompetent, or both, but after seeing how they treated my car and the absolutely insane quotes that they gave me, Id sooner rather take it to the homeless guy that hangs out at the OReillys around the corner for work on it than come here again.
