LM L For the last 12 years, I have spent so much money trying to find the right stylist to cut my curly hair. Every place claimed to have the curly hair expertise, but I usually felt the cut was just so-so. That is the complete opposite of my experience at Head Designs. Sheila took the time to listen to my wants and looked over all the reference photos I brought. I went from chin length wimpy curls that loved to frizz at the hint of rain to the CUTEST pixie shag. I was never blessed with thick hair. To my dismay, part of my aging process has been thinning hair that is coarser and more fragile. An experienced stylist understands the different hair textures between younger and older clients because as people age, their hair naturally changes in texture, density, and condition, requiring different styling techniques and product choices to achieve the best results. Sheila understood my concerns and cut my hair in such a way that the thinner areas are no longer noticeable. Now all I need to do is wash it 1-2x/week and use a styling gel. On the do nothing days, I wet down any areas that are flattened or have cowlicks, fluff up with my hands and Im done. I was Sheilas lone customer that afternoon so she was able to take care of me with zero distractions. She has a calm demeanor and a gentle touch. What I appreciate the most is how Sheila really paid attention and listened to me. There is street parking and a lot behind the shop. And after leaving with such a good haircut, I treated myself to a pastry from the bakery next door. Looking forward to my next cut. Thank you, Sheila!!

Mostafa Abuzaid Great customer service shes the only Barber who actually knows how to cut curly hair. I would recommend coming here because most barbers in Oakland cut your hair too short or mess it up

Sinath Neang I moved to Oakland two years ago, and Tiffany has never disappointed me with her talent for haircuts. This past weekend I also decided to get my hair colored for my wedding by Tiffany, a balayage style. I wanted a light ash color and wasnt sure what was possible because my hair was black. She gave me good advice, even when I wasnt sure what I wanted or know whats the right decisions. She was thoughtful and patient with me. Afterward, it turned out beautiful, but I told Tiffany I wanted to be lighter and to even out the orange due to my hair being black. She had me come in for another session, so she could make it lighter and even. After the second session, she even gave me treatment for my hair to take home. Tiffany is not only a professional, but shes talented at what she does, and she cares about her clients happiness. Shes the best hair stylist I have had. Thank you for always giving it your best! allison ayer Dwight Davis is a genius hairstylist, a rockstar and an all around cool person. I’ve done lots of colors, shapes and textures with my hair thanks to him. He was referred to me by a friend- we both have long curly hair which he’s done a great job with. Super cute little space, 2 chairs, very personal and professional at the same time.

Virginia D. Brooklyn is amazing. Ive been to a number of different curly stylists over the years and shes been a breath of fresh air. Shes extremely talented, dedicated to only curly hair, and really fun to chat with in the salon. I couldnt ask for a better experience. The initial consultation was awesome, she took the time to ask questions about my hair, take notes, and play around with my curls to really understand my needs before doing any cutting. Since then, everytime I come in she take a moment to see whats changed before diving in. One of my favorite things about Brooklyn is that she takes each persons hair needs into consideration and includes hair treatments in the cost of her service instead of trying to upsell. If youre looking for a curl specialist, consider Brooklyn! Shes spectacular.

Nadya Stoyanova I cant recommend Salon One enough! I had been searching for a new salon for more than a year until I found Salon One and they certainly earned my loyalty. I have been seeing Tina for a couple of years now and shes been able to turn my very dark, dull, and brittle hair into this gorgeous shade of ashy blond, while restoring the health of my hair. She is also extremely knowledgeable and will recommend you strategies to best take care of your hair long term.
