Megan Chait Such a great community! All of the coaches are wonderful and bring their own personalities. Nick and Jason are my favorites because they always push me - even when I don’t want to push myself. Sometimes the music / microphones can be too loud. Overall a great place to workout at and meet new people that can become friends.

Adam Sellers Started working w James a few years ago, I was looking for a new MAT practitioner. Since then I have also gotten the most thoughtful and effective workout routines of my life. Every single exercise is so focused on true long-term physical health, making me stronger while also not overloading my body and tolerance. I’ve never worked with anyone better, him and the team are the best.

Santa Monica Family YMCA

Fouad Alkisswani Let me first say this is primarily a fitness facility - a role performed exceptionally well. Firstly, they have a sauna and steam room unlike Equinox, John Reed, and FRD, which are about double in price. Plus, a huge pool, spaces to get work done, a basketball court, a litany of classes and a great location right across from Santa Monica Main Library. My mom (who lives in VA) gifted me a membership and the online process was seamless as was final in-person registration for me. One gripe; however. We paid for a dedicated locker and it took me a day to buy an actual lock. When I went to put it on my locker, someone was using the locker. I went to the front desk and they said "just wait for whomever it is to leave." Feedback indicating that a best practice is to indicate day lockers from paid permanent lockers (all gyms Ive ever been to clearly indicate that) fell on deaf ears. They were nice; however, in how they said "we dont care." For

Drive Cardio

Jenelle Bossett I came to Drive Cardio expecting an ordinary workout. From the Groupon and Yelp reviews I figured this place was over-hyped and too good to be true....OH BOY was I wrong! Drive has easily become one of my favorite workout destinations. The location is amazing, literally a walk from the beach off PCH. My drive to and from is always a pleasure, so relaxing and tranquil. Parking is a breeze. They have a lot with ample of space and theres even metered parking on the street that rarely gets packed. Every single workout is different. Ive gone over 10 times and can honestly say Ive never experience redundancy and they always provide a challenging but rewarding class. Ive been to 4 different instructors (Damien, Bonnie, Thierno, and Simon) all amazing but they all have different teaching styles. They all have high energy and make each workout challenging but fun. The classes are unlike any other Ive attended. They are both intimate yet engaging. You may start off with a treadmill warm up and move to core or strength training. Each class differs in routine so you are never bored. After a week I could really tell my stamina increased from the treadmill alone. And of course each and every class I sweated my balls off but loved the feeling of accomplishment after. The staff here is great and its a small gym so its easy to feel right at home here. Theres really nothing I would change about this place. If you are looking for the intimate setting similar to a personal trainer I would say come here. You really do get that individualized training in a group setting because they keep the class size pretty small. But it is pricey. Its certain worth the price if you can afford it, but if you have to to live off of Top Ramen and sale a kidney to pay for it then you might want to get the 20 class pack Groupon. Free lockers are a plus and they also offer face towels to wipe off all those calories you are sure to burn. I absolutely adore this place!

Hot 8 Yoga

Danielle Yagoubian I absolutely love this hot 8 yoga studio! The moment you walk in, you’re greeted with warmth—both from the staff and the perfectly heated space. The instructors are incredibly knowledgeable, motivating, and always attentive to form, which makes every class feel safe, challenging, and rewarding. The mix of strength, stretch, and sweat is unbeatable, and I leave every session feeling stronger, lighter, and completely recharged. Truly my happy place—couldn’t recommend it more!

The Study Santa Monica

Brooke Rachman 5 Stars - Highly Recommend The Study! Ive been training for my first fitness race, and Im so glad I found The Study! I signed up for 6 private EMS training sessions with Karen, and its been an incredible experience. The facility is spotless, and the atmosphere is welcoming. It includes everything you need to recover after a tough session - cold plunge, sauna, and showers. The staff is knowledgeable and really takes the time to ensure youre getting the most out of your training. Karen is an absolute professional. Every session with her feels focused and personalized, and its like the world disappears while were training - shes that good at keeping you engaged and pushing you to reach your potential. Im already noticing amazing results and cant wait for my next session! I highly recommend The Study to anyone looking for top-notch one-on-one personal training. Whether youre new to fitness or training for a race like me, this place is the real deal!

Muscle Beach Venice Gym

G Always wanted to visit this location since the early days of Arnold dominance. Night outdoor gym with what looks like all facilities. Great boardwalk location in a bustling area. Only downside was the stink of cannabis everywhere.

SWEAT 60 Personal and Team Training

Megan Pooley Evan at Sweat60 is the best trainer I’ve ever had! His workouts are challenging but still fun and uplifting. He is not only an effective coach and trainer, but he’s a great person. I look forward to our sessions — he is incredibly positive, kind, and motivating. I’ve made so much progress thanks to him!

Archway Fitness

Ari Eisenstadt I’ve been going to Archway for almost 8 months, and working with Jonathan has totally changed my life. I have multiple injuries and chronic conditions, and had been afraid to exercise for many years. Jonathan has consistently adapted to my needs. He is always thinking of new stretches, exercises, and little ways to tinker existing exercises so that they don’t cause me pain, and his knowledge of anatomy and physiology is amazing. Archway has helped me gain strength and confidence I honestly didn’t think I could build. This gym is a great community, and I’m so grateful to be a part of it!
