My experience with the middle school office staff was awful when I was divorcing a "local" family. They caused delays and stress and were unsupportive to me as a legal custodian due to their relationship with a known family and smear campaign the family started. Separation is tough for any family dynamic but if you have a power and control imbalance this districts staff can be very dangerous in continuing abuses due to their ignorance. So be aware of your rights because if they feel you arent deserving of rights they will act as so and be a barrier to progress. I dont recall making a formal complaint, I knew they were wrong and my child would be transferred but their exclusionary practices felt demoralizing as a parent that was already fighting for her and childrens safe home. Worth noting, similar experiences I had with another child of mine during the separation but when I made concerns known, staff were open to working with me. Not the case for all entities in this district. My younger children are home, thriving and finally recovering emotionally from the attempted kidnapping their family used with the schools and legal system. The same can almost be said for my eldest, he just hasnt progressed outside of the small town judgmental mindset. I continue to pray he finds clarity in his path as time goes on I see the clarity he is finding, Im grateful for who he is and the pride he found as a wahkiakum mule. Wahkiakum you are great, but do better, I dont care if your supporting the cause of a teacher or mayor of your town , do not ever be a barrier to an engaged parent and if you suspect abuse, report it! Your actions are not heroic when ignorant and fall outside of standard procedures.
