5 /5 fia vit: This church community has truly changed my experience living in yakima as a 20 something year old. You will feel welcomed as you are, but grow spiritually and grow in your relationship to God! This church follows Jesus unashamedly, preaching straight from the Bible, and truly strives to love and care for everyone. The pastors are so intentional to get to know the congregation, beyond their already demanding work load. They are so grounded in the Word and are relatable yet inspirational! God is also doing a great work in the young adults ministry, a wonderful place for those out of school or in careers-- that dont yet have their own families to connect with other recourses of the church. If you do have kiddos, the childrens ministry is incredible. The staff and volunteers genuinely want to show the love of Jesus and create a safe space. If you are looking for your purpose, answers, or joining a faithful community, just give it a try!

4 /5 SaneNoMore: West Side is a large Conservative Baptist Church (though it doesn’t advertise that it is Baptist for some reason) with a plurality of leadership Pastors. It can be a bit difficult to get connected without joining a small group meeting due to the size (700 ish people split between two services) but the people are generally friendly and they have many activities and small groups to choose from. Music is mostly modern and is played with full instrumentation. Dress is fairly casual and the NIV is used in the pulpit. The church has an in-house coffee shop, a large security monitored parking area, child care, and a well supported, age bracketed children’s ministry. The preaching is biblical and non-compromising though it has a Calvinist bent. I dropped one star due to the lack of traditional hymns or psalms sung (which is a preference issue), the fact that the church doesn’t clearly announce its denomination, and due to the Calvinist only leadership team (though they are all otherwise very good). This is one of the largest and most active churches in Yakima and it actually founded and funded several of the smaller Baptist churches in the area, so if your looking for a church that is actually accomplishing something outside of its own four walls, West Side is a solid choice.
