5 /5 Keith Bennett: I have know Mel the pastor for many many years and love what he is doing with the Sunday morning service at this church.
Our background, we both served as youth pastors in the area. When I ventured out as a traveling speaker back in the 1990s it was Mel who recommended me to a pastor friend of his in Ontario, Oregon and because of that many doors opened to our ministry. We ended up speaking in camps, retreats, churches and a huge youth event at a local high school. I met another great friend In Oregon and because of that I have never forgotten the referral. Thanks Mel!
Our Sunday morning visit:
Because they meet around tables my wife Shannon and I felt more connected in that first visit than in many other Sunday morning worship services. It reminded me of the many times I was the guest speaker as I traveled and how some places greeted us and we both felt so welcomed, this was very similar to that. The big difference this time was We were not a guest speaker. From the entrance to the coffee area we were just treated like we were that important. This is one of the reasons it gets five stars!
We weekly attend another church in the area but after reconnecting with Mel over coffee my wife and I wanted go see for ourselves what was happening. Mel has shared with me what a Sunday morning would look like. So I had to go see for myself.... Great job!
Is it for everyone? It should be a Huge reason to Visit!
If your looking to get connected we other people, be able to process the topic and scriptures with others around a table with a cup a coffee then this is the place for you. If you want to play hide n seek in the back row of a church then maybe this one is not for you. They get five stars for this as well! Something good is happening here!
Shannon and I not only love Mel and is amazing wife the people seemed excited to see us and I even got Facebook friended from folks at our table that week. It takes great courage and faith in people to step out of the box! Mel was already a Five Star guy but the church gets five starts because they invited him to be their pastor! Allowing him to step out and do Sunday fresh! High Five from someone who has attended thousands of Sunday services in 100’s if churches over 44 years. I’m 58 and was a late church bloomer.
At our table we met the youth pastor and his wife and they reminded us of years ago when we started out at youth pastors right here in Pasco. They were fun and hosted our table. Pastor Mel shared and asked us to discuss parts of his message. He taught from the front and even used a white board. The service reminded me of some Sundays evenings and Wednesday evening services.
Finale thoughts: Great job guys we will continue to pray that God uses you to bring life to people and that they experience what we did! Having a youth pastors active on Sunday morning, leading worship and hosting a table... one last reason why the Five Stars..
