2 /5 Natalie-Grace Carr: I went in for my sons 2 month wellness check. The intake nurse seemed rushed and uncaring while taking our info. The doctor was 20 minutes late to the appointment. She was kind enough and answered my question but also seemed like she was in a hurry to get through our appointment so I might have had more questions had I felt like she had the time. The exam seemed a little unnecessarily rough, physically, for a two month old.
When it was time for his shots two nurses came in with some of the worst bedside manner I’ve ever experienced. It was quick, I’ll give them that, but there was no care or tenderness towards my baby or me. They held his legs down on the table and asked me to hold his hands above his head. It was horrible. I’ve never heard of an infant getting shots while being held down. It felt so wrong. No mom wants to watch their baby get poked with needles and it doesn’t help when the nurses doing it come off as cold and don’t even let you hold him or give him comfort while it’s happening.
There was no printed after visit summary or information given in regards to his growth or the vaccines he got. I’ve never been to a doctors office that doesn’t give you an after visit summary before. It’s extra annoying considering he doesn’t have a MyChart set up yet for me to go reference in case I forget anything that they said in the appointment.
Overall, I’m really disappointed and upset about how the appointment went. It’s his first pediatrician appointment and first time getting shots since he was born. I was excited and optimistic going into it and now just regret choosing this clinic. Having a pediatricians office that you feel like cares for your child, listens, and asks questions is important for all first time moms. I will be making his next appointment somewhere else and certainly won’t be recommending this practice to anyone who asks.
