Brit On 2/2/2024 I submitted a complete request for financial assistance. While I was waiting for a response, I paid my bill, as requested by Lincoln Hospital, who said I would be reimbursed if assistance was approved.
On 11/25/2024 I received a Notice of Determination, which was a 100% approval of assistance. That day, I called and talked to Stephanie in accounting at extension 1124, who said there was a mistake or glitch in their system that made my request take almost a year to approve. She confirmed that I had been faithfully paying my monthly payments while waiting for my answer on financial assistance and that those payments from the day I submitted my request would be reimbursed to me, in the form of a check, no later than the end of 2024, sent to my PO Box.
It is now 1/31/2025. I have not received my reimbursement check. I have called her extension to inquire about it, like she told me to if I didnt receive the check. It goes to voicemail every time. No one else in the department can help me. They all say to leave Stephanie a voicemail, which Ive been doing daily, with no return call or email.
I was very thankful to God for what I thought was financial provision when I received our letter of approval. However, now I almost wish I had never received it and know the truth about the "financial assistance" program that the hospital offers. After a year of being in this mess (and after a year before that of never getting answers on how much my bill would be in the first place), I suggest families go elsewhere for healthcare, like we do now. Financial planning, investing in our health, and honest communication are all important qualities in Healthcare to me and my family. If you feel like you have no other choice but to use Lincoln, I suggest keeping very detailed records, like I do, not that it has helped us, but at least it helps me know what is going on. I would also suggest not wasting your time with the financial assistance application because it doesnt exist. Prepare to save up your own money.
Update: 1/31/25, after writing all of this out, I received a call from the CFO (still no word for Stephanie the director of the accounting dept) saying my "refund check just never got cut for some reason" and I apparently should now be expecting one in the mail in February...one year to the month after this began. Heres hoping! I really dont enjoy writing reviews like this.

Rachel Smith Took my grandfather to the emergency room with what we suspected was a gallbladder attack at 9pm. The attack ended after roughly 2hrs while we were waiting on bloodwork. No more pain at all not even lingering soreness. Dr. Sousley diagnosed him with abdominal muscle strain even after being told there was no more pain. She gave him a muscle relaxer said she was going to prescribe more......it was even on the discharge paperwork (she never did this). She told him to cut his blood pressure medication in half saying his blood pressure was too low.....yet on the discharge paperwork it called out that his blood pressure was higher than 120/80 (not true at all). He went to see a real doctor today and had an ultrasound......guess what he has gallstones and is being referred to a surgeon. Dr. Sousley did not order a CT scan to even rule out gallbladder attack she was far to invested on muscle strain talking about ligaments and such. We were kept there until just after 2am for no help at all. If I could give a 0/10 I would and I will never visit this hospital and will tell everyone that asks how bad this experience was.
