June Jung I have to say this office had the least professional billing experience I’ve encountered—and Ive been to several dentists due to moving around frequently. When my insurance changed, I called ahead to confirm whether Id need to pay anything out of pocket for my routine checkup. The front desk staff took my insurance information, assured me theyd check, and promised to call me back before my appointment. However, I never received a call.
When I arrived for my appointment, the front desk staff informed me that they had looked into it online and found no difference between in-network and out-of-network coverage. Based on that information, I proceeded with my routine cleaning and even scheduled an appointment for my husband, who has the same insurance.
Weeks later, I received a bill: $100 for my cleaning and $450 for my husbands first-time checkup (not even a cleaning!). When I called to inquire, the staff vaguely explained that it might be due to the office being out-of-network. They said they would follow up with the insurance company and get back to me. Yet again, I received no follow-up. I had to call back myself, and they asked if I could contact the insurance company directly.
After speaking with my insurance company, I learned that the charges were due to the office being out-of-network, which caused the costs to exceed the allowed amount. When I asked how I could have known this beforehand, the insurance company explained that providers must check this information with them before the appointment to get an accurate breakdown.
While I understand that the insurance website breakdown was somewhat misleading, I expected the dental office to handle this as part of their routine practice. Im not aware of all the complexities with insurance, which is why I called ahead and provided my insurance details. That was the whole reason I reached out beforehand. This lack of professionalism and communication is frustrating.
On the positive side, the staff were friendly, and my routine checkup went well. However, the billing experience left much to be desired, and I dont feel confident returning for future visits.

Bruce & Jodie Business Ive been with Dr. Nulph since he went into his private practice. He has a great support staff and he always informs you how things look, if there are possible upcoming issues and if there is an issue he presents you with options you can decide on. Ive always felt comfortable going to his office.
