1 /5 r0bert shrewsbury: Took my Volkswagen Passat in because it was overheating, its a diesel and there are not many shops who will service a foreign diesel, so I was thankful that they obligated to take on the job and assured me that they were capable of getting the job done. It needed a new water pump, which is an invasive job requiring the timing chain to be removed. Once that was completed, they called me and informed me it needed a new thermostat as well, I approved both repairs and went ahead and agreed to have a new timing chain installed. Thats an expensive job, I paid a lot of money to have it repaired, therefore i had the expectation of my car running as it should upon pickup .After driving it 3-4 miles away, I noticed the vehicles timing was off and it was smoking and sputtering out smoke because of that. I immediately called them and addressed it. They made good and got the car running as it should after waiting 5 more days for them to correct it. A few weeks later, I opened up the hood to add windshield fluid, I noticed all the wiring and lines exposed because they had not re-installed my engine cover. There is a cover designed to snap on over the engine to protect all of that. I addressed that to them and their answer was.." We dont see one around here, we looked around" That obviously did not fix the problem, but as of right now, my engine cover is still not on my car, 7 weeks later.
I didnt get all that aggressive about that issue because they also had my Mercedes Sprinter in the shop for a code causing the engine to go into limp mode. It sat at their shop for 10 business days and finally i received a call and they told me they fixed the issue and its no longer going into limp mode. I picked it up, entered the highway and sped up to 70 mph and instantly went into limp mode. They told me a lot of sensors needed replaced and to take it back and they would replace one more sensor that will most likely correct that, after paying $3,500.00 to them for this work, I bring it back, they informed me that no charge for the last sensor. I left it for a week and they call me up and say...... You need a new turbo and a feed line for it, thats going to cost $6,900.00. Little did they know i replaced that turbo 15 months prior and its still under warranty, anyone who works on those would clearly see that the turbo wasnt all that old. They tell me non-chalantly that itll be another $6,900.00, like its nothing. I paid $1,200 for an after market turbo, the OEM turbo is closer to $3,00.00 or so. When I replaced that turbo it took 3 hours of my time and Im not even a mechanic. so they want $1,000 an hour for labor? I told them to halt everything and ill just come pick it up. Because I drive a specialty vehicle, they chose to gouge and basically punish me for it all while claiming they are the guys for the job. This is absolutely insulting, Ive spent $5,850.00 with them for both vehicles, now I have a engine guard missing and a van thats still in limp mode. And why did it take 3 visits to the shop to diagnose a new turbo? They couldnt have diagnosed that the first time around when they called and told me its no longer in limp mode? Their not even trying to hide their shadyness! Their just blurting out numbers all while not fixing my van as they said they would. Talk about a hostage situation. They will never again get my business and I have already broadcasted to others just how shady their operation is. I thought that actually speaking one on one with the owner of the shop might re-assure me that I would get a solid job, apparently that was just another waste of time. Im convinced that Anyone who brings their vehicle tho this shop is in for a world of disappointment and price gouged invoices.
