5 /5 Jennifer Folsom: I wrote the most beautiful review for Charlotte McKenzie hair studio and FKSJFL:SJKIHG:OWIEHJUO{*URFGOOGLE ATE IT!!!!@!Q
So, To recap: this chick has her Stuff together. She KNOWS hair. Charlotte McKenzie Hair Studio is located in a little, stylishly decorated, series of shops just north of Conroe and Charlotte is simply divine. She is a rare gem among a bunch of imposter hair stylists- she repaired my horrible hair cut that had left me feeling incredibly self-conscious (See below photos… it was bad….) The haircut was expertly performed over two hours and I am grateful for every single second she spent evaluating how my hair would fall if she cut it this way instead of that way… she truly is remarkably talented and I was amazed when she turned my chair around to reveal her work: I was looking at a completely different person. I busted out crying when I saw what she had done, I didn’t realize exactly how bad the previous haircut made me feel about myself. Which, I realize sounds shallow- but if we don’t look our best it’s really difficult to feel our best.
Speaking of BEST, it was due to my BEST friend that I found Charlotte. My bff felt sorry for my horrible new haircut and introduced me to Charlotte, who she had been going to for years. Was I always jealous of her mane of blonde bombshell? Well, of course,,,, but I figured one day she would let me meet her stylist, when she felt sorry enough for me and my bad haircut decisions….Yesterday was that day!
I DANCED out of that hair salon, but not just because I loved this new haircut- it was because I had found someone I knew I would carry in my heart for the rest of my life. Charlotte is an amazing person: half licensed stylist, half unlicensed therapist- and the conversation was so entertaining and stimulating that I found myself the next morning thinking about her and wishing I could give her a call just to see how her morning was going! What I found at her salon was more than a stylist- I found TRUST. Trust is a difficult, if not impossible, thing to find anywhere, anymore. But Charlotte is so skilled that I know I can trust her with my hair, my daughter’s hair, my secrets…And if you can find that, you’re golden.
Should you reach Charlotte and she tell you she can’t accept new clients at this time, I suggest you WAIT PATIENTLY. And in the meantime…STOP making irrational/emotional decisions about your hair. Charlotte will not let you do that at her salon- she will be forthright and tell you if the haircut you desire will be unflattering or too difficult to manage with your schedule. She tries very hard to treat the person, not the hair. And I appreciate that- and if you don’t, you should…because it is a rare find these days.
There are photos on Charlotte’s walls of some of her work… these photos are beautiful updo’s for formal occasions and braids and she does color that is unparalleled and extensions and keratin treatments and all the things us girls and guys need to feel beautifully put together. If she doesn’t do it, she can point you to the person you should go to, and - there are a few in the businesses surrounding her so you could make a day of it! Don’t be intimidated by the gorgeous aestheticians walking around who may stop in to chat while you are getting your haircut- turns out they are just as kind and down to earth as Charlotte is, who, incidentally, is a bit of a knock-out herself. Everything about this trip was to be marveled at…I had to remind myself not to gawk!
If you love beautiful hair and want some of your own, go see Charlotte! See my photos for the before, taken several years ago as my “inspiration photo” that i took to the first stylist, who did the middle pic to my hair- The final picture is my haircut from Charlotte: TAKEN THE MORNING AFTER she cut my hair, when I had just woke up and having my morning coffee… I ran my fingers through it and that was all I did to it! It’s lovely! I am so very happy with it!Super big thanks to my bff for getting me right and for Charlotte and all she did for me- I love my new hair!
