1 /5 Param Malhotra: 1 Star – Snapshot is a Ripoff, and Progressive Knows It
I had one of the worst insurance experiences ever with Progressive’s Snapshot program. I was out of the country for 4 weeks and not driving, so naturally, my phone wasn’t sharing location data. Despite that, Progressive decided to charge me extra — apparently as a penalty for not sharing my location while I wasn’t even in the U.S.!
To make things worse, they never sent me a bill or any kind of notice. I found out about the charge 4 months after canceling my policy. Talk about shady business practices.
Here’s the kicker: I called their customer service, and even the representative acknowledged that this charge shouldnt be there and that it should be removed. But since my policy is already canceled, she said there’s nothing they can do — I still have to pay it. Unbelievable.
This Snapshot program is misleading and borderline predatory. It punishes you for things that make zero sense, and Progressive hides behind technicalities instead of doing the right thing. They’ve lost my trust and my business.
Avoid Progressive and their Snapshot trap at all costs.
