Natalie Obregon I do not recommend this salon. I went for just a simple haircut to just trim my tips and get long layers since I had been growing out my hair for over a year now and they messed up my hair. The person who cut my hair left me practically bald. My hair is so thin as it is and they went ahead and reduced the width of it as well. I was so devastated because this person could not follow simple instructions and just chopped off most of my hair. Never again!

Liza Sanchez My cousin was getting married in Laredo and we needed a hair salon to do both of our hair for the wedding. We both live out of town so the appointment was made well over a month before the wedding for both of us. We got there early about 10 min before our appointment to be ready and talk through what we wanted. But our stylist was over 10 min late and had another appointment waiting for her. She then told us that shed take us after her other appointment so as we waited (already frustrated) we started looking for other places. But unfortunately that was quite a big ask given that it was so last minute. As we were waiting and discussing outside, she then came back to us to tell us she could take us now. But I wanted my cousin(the bride) to go first. She was on a call so I told the lady my cousin would go after she finished her call. To which I received attitude and was asked if she even knew what she wanted. Then when they did start on my cousin, another stylist there did her hair. Not the lady that was late that we had been waiting on and communicating with . So now the lady we were communicating with started cutting hair for 3 boys that were walk-ins. When my cousin asked who was going to do my hair, the lady told her that her hair was almost done so the guy working on her would do mine as well. Needless to say, our appointments were not honored, our hair was done but was not what we asked for(I got sprayed and slicked down with the aerosol hairspray when I wanted a natural look)and the customer service was atrocious. Im giving 1 star because the guy that did our hair was nice and accommodating. But Id rather give 0 stars. It was not his fault he got "voluntold" to work on us. But the experience we had was disgusting and I would never return to this place or recommend it. They are out to make a quick buck and do not care about creating or keeping clientele. Nor do they care about your time. Save your money and yourself a headache and just go elsewhere.

Carmen Viladrosa Dont go here . The man that cut my hair never let me see what he was doing and he totally didnt know what he was doing I asked for layers . But everything was very uneven and he left the back like a mullet. I had to cut again and go very short. Thank God hair grows but that is not what I wanted at all. Please avoid this place.

Baldo Barrera German is the best on hair cuts fades ect. Been going there since my son was 3yrs his now 16 yrs. And german was the one we go to but also other stylist there do great cuts hands down recomend it

Carolina Rodriguez I did some searching around on Google for a womans haircut, and found the price to be fair here at $25. I have very long curly hair, and just got my tips trimmed, as I like my hair long. As soon as I walked into this salon I was greeted by the nice lady at the front desk, but then the hair stylist named Jan Carlos just barged in and told me to take a seat. I rolled with it and I honestly should have just walked out after that.. The vibe he was giving off was horrible, unprofessional, he rudely told me to walk over to another room to wash my hair, which he sloppingly did. When he asked me how I wanted to style my hair, (only trim) he was rude enough to judge my choice, said why do I want it so long. At this point I really wanted to leave but my hair was all wet. He trimmed my hair really fast, and when he was done he very roughly scrunched my hair and let me go. He did not attempt to converse with me like most stylists do. I felt so ashamed to be there. I was just judged and treated like a ragdoll. I will never come back here again and do not reccomend Jan Carlos at all. The other stylists seem gentle and caring, so try at your own risk. Jan Carlos, please learn some respect and treat your customers better.

Today was the last straw, I went in to get my eyebrows done after a year or two because they always use me living close by as an excuse to put me in the end. Last year they had the audacity to make me wait again 3 hours for me to do my eyelashes done and kept putting other walk-ins in front of me. Im.an adult and have things to do now. I know they met me when I was a teen but that isnt an excuse to put me in the end. Today I walked in to give them one more chance. Then they acted as if they didnt know me. Then had the nerve to be like hey if you call me in a few Ill let you know when. This is what they did with the eyelashes last year and had me waiting three hours. They were trying to do it again with my eyebrows. How rude, after a decade and some to ve their customer. They lost a loyal customer and I honestly wouldnt go with them. They dont value anyones time.

dj firo One of the best hair cut experiences I have had so far. Leonor did a great job. From hair cut to beard removal, using a straight razor, she delivered a quality cut with precision and swiftness . Nice and clean place. Will return to get a hair cut on my next travel to Laredo.

poptarts 7891 Do not recommend this place. This isn’t the first time I come and they mess up my hair. I came back to give another try, but the expirence was worse. The lady cutting my hair, was rude and tried to belittle me just because I didn’t know Spanish. She was rude about it and turned to the other lady and made a face everytime I told her I didn’t understand her ( I showed her a simple picture and tried my best to explain to her how I wanted it with the numbers. She also messed up my hair from behind and they always take forever to attend. What I’ve notice from the times I have come, they only give good service to family members or friends, they don’t give a good welcoming to new clients.

Christopher I kGarcia Called in an hr before they closed. Asked how much is the mens cut. Was quoted 20$, I politely said thank you. Was about to hang up. When I was told to come on in " we can work on the price". Well needless to say only got a semi decent haircut from the young man. And they still charged 20 for a mans hair cut. Its ridiculous to charge that amount. And dont lie or try to con your customers for a quick buck. Thats not good biz. Will go somewhere else next time to a more established, professional business..

Alejandra Salinas My family and I recently had our updos done here and not only did our hair look PHENOMENAL but the service was amazing! They provided my little 3 y/o with her own robe and were sooo patient with her and made her feel like a princess.

Navi took her time in achieving the color my wife wanted and stayed way past closing time to make sure everything came out perfect. Everyone was polite and professional. The salon is exceptional and they make you feel welcomed and appreciated. The entire experience exceeded my expectations.

Victoria Estrada I went to get my hair blue black. When I got there they didnt have the color. They rescheduled me and they did my hair full color. They have you pay up front through a website to make an appointment, I paid $90. When they were done she charged me even more. I paid over $200. I still have canas and its not even blue black. Its not even black. I asked them to fix and they wanted to charge me $45 more dollars. Very bad service.

Manda M Amy completely destroyed my hair by overprocessing it and I am devastated. I spoke extensively with Joe and Amy about how I wanted to slowly lighten my hair for a special event several months out, and that hair integrity was my number one priority over color. Amy said she understood and that she had the capacity to do this. She did not. I asked her to do a stand test and she said that was not usual policy and unnecessary. My hair was fried beyond repair in one appointment. Amy was sneaky and turned me away from the mirror to style my hair after she bleached it and used heat and hairspray to hide the damage. My hair was breaking off and she didnt want me to see. That evening and into the next day my hair was clearly dry and frazzled and I could see it falling out. Amy told me that once the hairspray she used was washed out it should feel better. I came back to see Amy to discuss the damage as I had lost several inches of hair at the front and she said that she would have to trim the front sections and trim the back otherwise they would continue to break up the hair shaft. She had over saturated my hair which is clear from the bright color spots (see photos). She gave me the worst haircut Ive ever seen in my life and told me not to tie my hair up or to use any heat on it for at least 3 months. She admitted that my hair was stretching and gummy when it was wet after the bleaching and she hid this from me. Amy didnt show any remorse or apologize. She refunded me and told me that it was policy to not see the client again after refunding them (this is clearly a common occurrence). Amy had no intention of providing any after care to try to help me - As youll see from other reviews, Amys catch all phrase when she destroys peoples hair is "you need to practice better home care". This was NOT the case for me as the damage was already evident minutes after leaving the salon. Amys inexperience and ignorance has literally cost me my hair and its still in bad condition months later. Her complete lack of personal and professional integrity is the worst part about all this. Amy is a terrible human being who knows what she did and she didnt have the decency to help to fix the situation, she just wanted to run from it. I know this, Amy knows this and God knows this. Amy has bad energy and juju. Avoid this salon at all costs.

Jennifer Torres This was my first time going to The Beauty Bar by Amy & Joe, and they did not disappoint! The staff was very friendly and professional, and the facility is very clean and has good feel/vibe about it. I went in for an Essential Haircut with Shelby H., and she did an amazing job! My hair felt and looked softer, healthier, and shinier after my visit with her. I showed her inspiration ideas and what I didn’t want, and she worked her magic. I loved my haircut and hairstyle. I had a couple of questions and she kindly answered. I highly recommend Shelby H. and The Beauty Bar by Amy & Joe! Great customer service and excellent services provided by their staff. Thank you!

Johnnie Lohmann This was not a great experience and made me feel super self-conscious. I had just washed my hair that day. She made me feel like I was dirty and demanded she be allowed to rinse my hair. I have severe allegies. I have to do a skin test on all products before I can use them. I showed her a picture of what I wanted. Instead of a cute little pixie cut, she gave me a standard "old lady" bob. I paid, but I still have to go back to my usual stylist as soon as I get home to have him fix this mess. I will never return.

Ismael Martinez Concepcion cut my hair. I asked her to fade the line after and she said I had too much hair and tried again. After the second attempt it was not all faded, I asked for it to be faded again and she said she couldnt, that I was so used to barber cuts and that she couldnt do those fades. The price was $25 for a bad haircut, she cant cut hair like a barber but sure can charge like one....

Kayari My hair looks nice and healthy, and my stylist was very kind. I asked for a wash and cut. Its my fault I didnt ask about their prices, but I was shocked to be charged $65 for how simple I like my hair. I feel like I got talked into extras like layers that would cost extra without being informed it would cost more. I had cash and gave them $80 which they took without offering change. I dont mind giving a tip but I would have liked it to be my choice. Im not very good at being confrontational so I just left but I wanted to give a review so people like me will know what to expect. TL;DR: I wanted a simple wash and cut. They were super kind. It cost $65. They took $80. That might be fine for you but its too expensive for me and what I ask for.

She took the time to really listen to all my concerns and answer my questions. She colored my roots, cut and styled my hair just right, and gave me great advice on products and care. Claudia Espinoza I went in for a free consultation with Iza, left a $50 deposit for a follow up appointment, had to cancel several times and decided to cancel the appointment altogether and was told the deposit was non refundable. She did mention that she would “honor” a service for the deposit I left, but I have yet to get a response from her. Worst experience ever.

Joe Saldana Hospitality was alright, though when it came to my haircut it was not good at all. My hair ended up a hot mess, my hair was unproportionate in various places where it werent supposed to be. The lady that attended me took less than 5min to cut my hair ??? Wouldnt recommend this place for a haircut. At least not from my FIRST experience with them.

If you have not gone yet go it’s the best in town . However prices aren’t the best that’s just it, but the do an incredible job .

Aileen Castaneda-Leibenguth Lupita is the best, she really knows how to cut, style, and makes recommendations on the different type of hair. Since mine is a little bit of a combination, she recommended me a shampoo and condition, plus a natural oil, my hair looks healthier and it’s more controlled now. I will be coming back with Lupita for another haircut and style.

I bEen going there for a long time, until they decided the employees don’t need to speak English. Messed up my son and my hair several times because of that fact. I talked to manager a few times, no change. This did not happen to me when I was in El Paso, Texas or in McAllen, Texas. Only happens everywhere in Laredo...

NA Ok so I believe this place deserves 5 STARS. The reason Im giving one star is because of the OWNER. The employees here are such sweethearts and they do an AMAZING JOB. There has been a couple of times where its empty and the owner is here and then she just decides to take over and tell her employee to work on her hair rather than the customer first! Sometimes the owner will he there talking bad about others and says many rude things. I mean I know she is the owner but I feel like she isnt trying to make money and is scaring people away with her annoying coversations. This such a great place when the owner isnt around. maybe if the owner would just be courteous this place would be perfect!

Albert Tellez Honestly its a great fade for the money, $15 and if you care to tip. Leonor always does great by me! Xpress only does cash and no appointments, so go early and get yourself a good haircut.

Alyssa Arriaga LEO did an amazing job! When I arrived at the hair salon I was pretty nervous because I have real long long hair and stylists usually cut my hair uneven. However, Leo went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and relaxed. She even shampooed, conditioned, and detangled my hair before cutting it. After she finished, she made sure it was cut evenly and even took a photo so that I may confirm that I liked the length. I definitely recommend you request for Leo if you visit this salon! She is awesome!

M G My experience was a horrible one. Went in for a medium bob haircut but got a pixie it was bad super short and chopped up uneven with a knife. Not even dry or styled it. Never never again will i go there. And yes I was also kept waiting for a while before i got anybodys attention. Which i have no problem waiting being that they had costumers fine but not a greet or smile good afternoon anything zip nothing totally rude people

Amber Chavez Went for in to get a wolf cut like I have before at that establishment, but this time it was a different stylist who was condescending, a blonde haired old lady whom I Showed her my go to haircut then tells me that they apparently don’t do haircuts for dyed black hair and then proceeds to tell me the layers won’t show with my hair color, and then tells me the hairstyle wouldn’t suit me. Another thing I wanted to add was that as soon as I entered the place she was just laying down on the couch. Had to go somewhere else to get better service.

Jose Esquinca The stylist was unable to do a simple cut that would make his hair brush sideways. Bottom back was left too long and when I asked her to cut it shorter she left it crooked. Decided to just take my son home and fix it myself. I probably can do a better job with no experience.

Ally Jace I hadn’t cut my hair in 7 years except at home trim jobs. I was nervous to let anyone touch my hair at that point but I walked out of this salon happy crying. I showed the stylist pictures of what I wanted, they immediately knew what it was and how to do it. I was given tips on how to take care of my hair after the cut. I will be back next month to dye my hair for the first time in 8 years! Finally someone I can trust and for a great price! 5 stars!
